  • @Nazgul100 This animation is toast I'm afraid, it's actually pretty bad animation and all the MC hammer stuff has been re-done in the new one much better quality, so goodbye test dance!

  • after the splits, he comes up a bit too fast, try to add a few frames to slow it down so it doesnt look so instant.

  • Were the grenades and armor flapping around made by means of a physics engine, or did you animate it all yourself?

  • Just curious.. did you make the models yourself, and rig them? Or are the TF2 models and rigs relatively public?

    I've done some 3d animation in maya (mostly with public models/rigs because it takes forever to do the whole process on your own T_T), and am curious as to where I can grab some tf2 rigs to play with.

  • @Khanezhyray You can actually directly grab maya rigs for the characters from the steam folder if you have TF2 and the source sdk installed. Go Valve! (I use max and some wizardry to make these, it's much simpler since you have Maya).

I would welcome it if you give away some more infos on where to get the files and importer-plugins... Or maybe you even do a few minutes of video turoial. Would be nice. Go on with your work!

    coming from an animator myself, the jiggle can be done several ways, but due to the recent muscle simulations in autodesks programs its become alot more easy to put in

    also, have u tried doing the facial animation with morph on these tf2 models?i cant seems to "select from scene" when using morpher and i've checked the vertices and all of my heads are the same,let me know if you know how to fix this =)

  • @harry781012 The decompiled smd's are loaded into max and then a rig is scaled to perfectly fit the proportions of these bones. I then constrain all of valves bones to the rig. This way I cant use the animation in game and dont have to reskin, and still use my rig. As for the morphs, test that the geometry is the same by making a copy of the model and seeing if you can select the exact copy. If this doesn't work I'm afraid I don't know.

  • @thejazzman9475 thx for the reply =) i've already did what you suggest with the morpher and it doesnt work =/, i tried selecting the head as element and just move/clone another head, also, smooth gets turn off on the new head when i clone it, and when i apply morpher on the old head, its smooth also gets turn off. i dunno if that have to do with my morpher not working or not. btw,i like how smooth ur animations are, is it done by using the curve editor?im still not too good with that XD

  • he's a little slide-y from :10 to :14 but i think you know that and who am i to critique. i really like the "settle" bounce you got going with the secondary animation when he snaps up straight at :06, was that done by hand or did you code/paint weights?

  • @zoekills ty for the feedback, im not very happy with the demoman tbh he'll prob have a lot of changes. And no there's no procedural animation everything is keyframed, including cloth on the spy's coat etc.
