I've been about 20-ft from a lightning strike, but it didn't compare with the one night where a lightning storm woke me up from a nap. It kept storming; it was incredible. Over the course of about 20 minutes, there was ~250 lightning strikes within a mile. It was like this video except almost every single one of them rattled the windows and hurt your ears. I've been in Texas for over 20 years, never experienced anything like it, and hopefully never will. It was absolutely terrifying.

I got a 2 hours storm ...every 2 seconds we had a lighting coming up.... Thats zero infront on what we had... And this is just normally...you can see them if night is on :)

thanks. I used to be scared of thunder like this when i was little. I'm in PA ... i only see REAL GOOD lightning like this on the weather channel when they have the storm shows. I think it's facinating... but i'm also glad i don't live near it..LOL!

Just today there was a storm in Austin and were i live Hutto. Lots of damage was done!! I love watching this stuff

If only I had this on video, in Toronto maybe 10 years ago there was a lightning storm to the north east of where I lived in thornhill. This was the craziest thing I've ever seen. You could see at least 10 lightning strikes at any one time, there must have been 1000 lightning strikes per minute. Lit up the sky.
