The not so obvious reason they call this movie the karate kid (other than the fact that its a remake) is because Trae claims to know a little karate when he first encounters the bullies. they call him the "karate kid" as a way to mock him. EVERYONE KNOWS THAT he actually learns Kung Fu so its no need to keep saying the title is inaccurate.
