@samjhonson007 hi...infra red at these short distances, sonar sensors are good but at larger distances, i.e. 50 cm to 10 m say whereas the infra rad is good from 0 to 30cm say
just dont operate this bot on carpet or hi traction surfaces.. i built a base with the same components and the tamiya gearbox stripped gear teeth off on simple carpet.
@mulletcar , I think you were just unlucky or had the rubber tracks on too tight. This bot was only powering the motors with 4.8 volts from nicads, you have to be pretty harsh on them to break them.
@Eltimple that might be the case, i also had the fastest gear ratio assembled..it was too fast for that 30 seconds before the grinding commenced. i think im going to modify 2 servos for continuous rotation and start over, either way, nice bot man!!
Eltimple, is there any chance of you trying to make my design for a perpetual motion machine(my newest video upload), you seem to be very skilled with modelmaking and interested in the subject? If it works we'll be the rulers of the universe ;)
cool ...... hey could u please send me the manual .... so that even i can try it out

@mulletcar Ahh yes that would be a problem, i slowed mine right down to give the electronics time to react.

I like watching self-motivated bots thinking. Very tasty!

Im interested in building a chassis like yours. Did you buy it or build it? If so do you have any info on building something like that

But if you were in a box room wouldn't it just travel around the edge?
sasasasa34 2 years ago
it would if there were no boxes in there. It was programed to avoid obsticales

i see :D what are you using for movment? servos or normal DC motors with H-bridge?
sasasasa34 2 years ago
It uses the tamiya 2 motor gearbox, about 9 dollars last time i bought one, and h bridge chip
Eltimple 2 years ago
Thanks! Imma check it out.

And the tamiya tank track kit which is 5 or 6 dollars. Some prefer modified servos , some prefer motors either is easy

I tried to make it myself but i just don't have the skills required for it to be precise and efficient. Nice robot btw
