  • uf , this is science already ...

  • Good video. I've been experimenting with a pretty basic Orton for a year or so and mostly I've loved the results. But, after watching your new techniques (new to me), I see I can be doing so much more to enhance certain images. thx

  • Okay, I'm watching the video and trying it out as I watch, pausing as necessary. I just duplicated the layers, but then you said that if I "turn these off" I have my normal exposure there. I don't have that, and I have no idea what I did differently from you. I followed along with exactly what you were doing, I think.

  • How many minutes into the video are you at the point you have a question?

  • At about 3:20 you say to duplicate the layer 3 times (but it looks like you actually duplicate it twice, to get a total of three layers), but that if you turn two of them off you still have the normal exposure there. I don't have the normal exposure when I turn the other layers off.

  • Great tutorial...... by the way I could listen to your voice all day. :)

  • Brilliant tutorial, can't wait to try this!

  • Hey, this is a great, detailed tutorial, thank you very much for your help!

  • some people talk too much

  • hahahaha....lol...hu r u talking abt?dat comment below?

  • chinise people have paade in nyc , for real i never heard of it.... cool, btw im not chinise ,i just love the food , good tutorial

  • should i multiply both layers or just one

    how many all together

  • Group the bottom 2 layers. Group the top 4. Select the bottom of the top group, select the multiply mode for this one (and hence all above as a group).

  • vietnam girl ;)

  • Well then turn up your volume and stop complaining.

  • Maybe he just needs to clean his ears. Oh it's a bad effect of poor hygiene hahhah!

    Nice tutorial by the way.

  • Thanks for the tip! I heard absolutely nothing at first. At least now (after increasing the volume to max) I got some kind of noise in my laptop speakers.

  • I like what you've done, I liked seeing you work, as always I saw some workflow techniques I didn't use, there's 100 ways to do the same things in photoshop

this image is a bad example, but I learned :-)

you can do the mask on just a 2 layer orton anyway. three of course will add more flexibility. Managing 3 adjustment layers of levels is hard and a bit unnecessary, i'll play around w/ two more

  • As usual great tutorial. I run this through a photo that was a bit noisy and ended up with a great portrait. Thumbs up!

  • Watching and applying each step on my own image in-between video instructions worked out swell.

Of course, I had to replay your instructions four hundred times to adjust for my learning curve, but I'll be darned, turned out well! Thanks for the walk-through, SOBob.

  • Nice tutorial - really - thanks ;-)

  • how can i put another picture to on top of another picture??

and how can i drag, open or put the image to the layering box?

  • i wonder that aswell

  • sorry to say that man but that photo was great but you almost destroyed it...

  • I liked it before

but it works on other photos that don't look so good

  • yeah, this image was already too well, he should have got some old family photos, or did a glamour photo edit to a model

  • I didn't see much of a change from the before/after :\

  • thanks you. what is this effect supposed to do for your pictures anyways?

  • How do I add Levels as a layer?

  • Layers>New Adjustment Layer>Levels.

  • Thank you ;)

  • hey go on my profile to see my photoshop tutorial/tips video

  • Thanks, I'm too green to understand a lot of it but I REALLY appreciate your time. See watch a lot and understand a little. Eventually you understand more. :)

  • when i go to select levels and/or i have modified the levels the levels layer does not appear. any help? thanks.

  • Great stuff, just what I needed.

Thank you. I even made it in to an action, first one I ever made by My self!

  • cool!

I'm going to try and post the results!
