  • Long time no speak, Sham64andahalf!

Just to say, there's a new young ska band called Too Spicy Ska, mix punk/ska, remind me a bit of the Ruts but more on the ska side. Watch out for them!

  • say wot u like real people real music .fuking amazing my local band in the day still as good as ever RIP MALC AND FOXY.

  • Yes the ruts were tight!!

  • Dat Bass

  • thanks for posting this. never thought id ever see live footage of the ruts with malcolm owen. they sound great. wasnt old enough to see them but a big junior fan in their brief heyday.

  • punk for 12 year olds and mentally handicapped, along with boomtown rats and the damned.

  • @birdandthe fucking shut up you idiot, the ruts were fantastic as were the damned, boomtown rats are shit like i'll give you that.

  • @ajf1982yiwb chuck em in the bin

  • @ajf1982yiwb INfuckingDEED...but the fucker might be right about the B,Rats...

M.Owen, one of a kind ...sad loss.

  • Masterpiece of Music, bless Malcolm Owen & Paul Fox

  • OH WOW!!!!!!!

    AWESOME!

  • Malcom Owen.. Brave. Brave. Brave. I love Him so.

  • t

This has to be the best song ever written and performed by the best fuking band ever .Rip malc and paul .Never forgotten. Hillingdon Ruts Crew.

  • A dream has come true in seeing this!

    Thank you!

  • video culled from form 'les enfants du rock', march or apriil 1980. saw a bunch of great bands then. cure, ruts, clash, etc, all of them live. living in italy in the late 70s early 80s was not an easy task from a musical point of view .

the ruts: greatest band of the lot.

fighting fighting fighting ... jah war

  • great stuff man, cheers4postin. I have this on a vinyl album & babylon is burnin on a 45

  • anyone got any more of this gig ?

    please post it

  • Hoping for a re-run of this on French TV, priceless footage

  • @circleoffools I wish it happened but being French and therefore familiar with French TV, I doubt it. I wouldn't even bet that they still have the tapes.

  • This footage is priceless, thanks for sharing it.. The Peel sessions album gets heavy rotation on our turntable.

    cheers!

  • I always wondered what the rest of the 80's would have done for The Ruts was Malcom to have survived.

  • Sometimes I always thought The Ruts would make an amazing reggae band other than being possibly one of the greatest punk bands in existence.

  • Best punk reggae song ever. Hm, maybe besides Guns of Brixton from the Clash.

  • I'd add something by the SLF, from "Go for it".

  • Do you mean "Johhny Was" ?

  • haha i love the RUTS i mean....in a non gay way

  • do u guys like hana montana????shes is sooooo talented. who are the rutezes?? did i spell that worng

  • are you sereous? ok, i admit, i like hanah montana but why would you watch a video by the ruts if you dont even know who they are?

  • @bassboy17290 the reason is because they were a top band in the early 80s who were brave enough to mix punk and reggae when it was a time of a lot of unrest between black and white. They bridged a big gap with the help of misty in roots in very touchy times.Me and my mates punx and skins luved what they stood for .Also they were fukin tops hope this helps u understand what they were all about.

  • cool video cheers

  • I take it all back! Sorry! And thanks for posting this...OH MALCOLM!!!!! I LOVE YOU STILL!

  • anyone got zion train dance version of babylons burnin ?

  • geant mais un son de merde

  • whaddida mean geant mais du son de merde - sounds like ...but son of shit??? unless my french is wrong - I apologise. Please explain!

  • the song at the end sounds like" you're just a.." from the crack

  • Yep defiantly You're Just A from the Crack.

I was lucky enough to see them at The Marque in London, not long before Malcolm's untimley death. A night I will never forget. RIP!

  • to staggers and lgwsteve - thanks - never would have got that if my hearing aid wasn't switched on...well, well, well, you're just a...

  • A thought for you'all - what is the song at the very end of this clip starting as?? Me thinks it's "Dope for guns" - suggestions anyone?

  • great!!!!

  • my only favourite songs of this band cos my dad had these downloaded so i got to know them

  • Wow! Glad to see some video representation of 1 of the greatest UK bands! Rip Malcolm & Foxy!

  • malcom Owen = Brilliant front man

  • Saw them suppporting sham 69 brilliant but still scarred by the man with the 12 inch d**k

  • I saw them live in Orléans 1982...Great...After discovered them in South Africa in 1979 !!!! Magic !!!

  • If time travel was a reality I would rescue Malcolm Owen, what he could have done with the Ruts would have been awesome. Jah wars and Babylons burning are probably the best songs ever written by white men. Awesome awesome band and much lamented.

  • Steve spot on mate again...what they could have done together..we'll never no but just look at the stage presence the feel, Owens voice, anger but seductive and boy could they play...brilliant single perhaps the best of 1979 easy. Punks get critized for not being able to play but the Ruts were not in that category. Do you like the Redskins?

  • Been a long time...... NICE

  • WOOOOOW. I never thought I would ever see this band live. They rank as high as the ZOUNDS goes for best album amoung the little dead end kids from upstate New York. Every song on this album was absolutely fabulous. Thank you so much for uploading. We , as mankind, will forever Thank YOU for showing the world. M" we have been missing him for many years and will do so for many more to come. MY MY what could have been. We love you.

  • rest in peace foxy and malcom

  • No, I dn't know other than those you mention, SLF and Clash... unfortunately. JM

  • You could try some ATV; Love Lies Limp, the image has cracked, etc, and you should definitely try the Slits
