In the early 1980s, I had a coworker who saw Hoover on TV. My coworker quoted Hoover as saying, "Hello there, pup!" He (coworker) would yell this out frequently.
My former coworker has been dead for many years. But now, finally, almost 30 years later, I get to hear Hoover myself. And he IS saying "Hello there!" (but not "pup"). And he does sound the way my coworker imitated him.
He used to say "Hello There!" I visited him often on my lunch hours. That is what I hear him saying here too.

@hebneh You're welcome. I wish I could tell you where on the internet I found the sound clip but I have no clue. I honestly can't remember.
