  • Good Afternoon Erwin.....

I was listening to my old Dad's audio cassettes of Sophie Tucker, which led me to you. How times have changed, and I must add, not always for the better....

I grew up in the EastEnd of London and know quite a lot of the "old time songs". Although I am not Jewish, I do feel we need to bring back these wonderful tunes, maybe we should encourage a new theatre production in memory of all the lovely people of times gone-bye.

    Regards Jacqui

  • Interesting because my two sons live in London,You are correct

  • Now that I have stopped crying at my desk in my office I can get on with my work. Oh how I love the Barry Sisters rendition of yiddishe momma. It brings back such warm memories of my mom. Thanks for a very emotional experience, it made my day.

  • The greatest loss of my life was the passing of meine yiddishe mamme. Thanks, Erwin for the songs . She was 92 and lived through the concentration camps. Raised a second family in America and believed in the goodness of people.

  • I'm thinking of my own Yiddishe Mama, my wonderful - loving and perfect - Jewish mother. She left us a decade ago; and oh! how I miss her. Rest in heavenly peace, dearest and sweet Mom!

  • Thanks for uploading Yiddishe mama, has anyone got Sophie Tuckers version to share on here?

  • I-Tunes has it for download. Great record sung in enlish and yiddish.

  • bendirect hope this helps, type in sophie tucker in the bar at the top, it seems it has just been uploaded hope this helps you. God bless Tony

  • Erwin, thank you - my wife is sitting here weeping at the thought of her own bubby crying over the loss of her mother... remembering generations gone, now... thanks for remembering and putting my wife back at the Friday night dinner table with a bissele schnapps. L'Chaim.

  • Thank you for the beautiful comment. It is very difficult even though inevitable that our parents leave us..Eventually we make peace with this and focus on the fond memories we maintain. Take Care Shalom Erwin
