I was an athlete and it sucks getting old trust me. Take my advice and try not to, but no one can. Even in the arts....I watched a great guitarist now really old and he can't play anymore, making mistakes he just handed the guitar over to some young kids that can now play better than him. His self awarness and turn of phrase make you question if he could even be a boxer let alone do half the other stuff he was accused of. for the record I think he did those things, but I also believe he felt that was the only way. not to excuse them, but this was a guy who was brought from the streets raw and nobody gave a fuck, the fact that he is able to love his kids

Of course MT was the best fighter the world has seen. But his biggest achievement is being able to look back and see what he did wrong and not blame anyone else. Few people take responsibility for themselves in life and we can all learn from the wisdom that he has gotten in his life time. A truely great man for accepting why he is flawed and why he is GREAT!

I think that deep down he is a really humble and a really good person. He was just unlucky to be run down by money hungry people who took advantage of him. Fame got into his head after his greatest mentor and best friend D'Amato died and people managed to take advantage of him. He was the best boxer the world has ever known; speed, ferocity, strength, agility and willpower. Also Holyfield was afraid of him, so he had to resort into desperate measures and he started headbutting. Iron Mike FTW
