  • ...Great !!!!!!!!!!!

  • Isn't this the version that appeared on the Jan and Dean album "The Little Old Lady From Pasadena?"

  • All time classic song.

  • flash cadilac and the continental kids did a very good version on the sons of the beaches album just a little more edgy than the ridgid sixtys ones

  • The Beach Boys are currently doing this song on their current tour.

  • do like this one better than the rip chords version.

  • wow, this sounds better than the fantastic baggys version :)

  • This is my favourite version of this much-copied song. In my view it's even better than the famous Fantastic Baggies' original version. The high-part vocals and background parts here are awesome .. I sense a behind the scenes presence of Brian Wilson, here back again with his old buddies from the early 60s ?? Wonderful graphics to accompany this track, malabu2 - great work and skill !

  • Thanks Colin really appreciate your comment, i remember back in the 70s when when i brought this 45 Melbourne radio station used the song as a promo .SUMMER MEANS FUN NOW ON 3XY NOW ,dose anyone else remember ? They also used the song Beach Baby - First Class.

  • Actually, The background vocals are PFSloan and his Fantastic Baggy partner Jeff Barrie (spelling?) They wrote the song and performed as the fantastic Baggys. PF Sloan does the falsettos in backgroud of J&D version and he is playing lead guitar. Brian sang wailing falsetto on surf city.

  • The song speaks for itself!

  • Liberty Records were as important to the California Sound as Capitol Records.

  • thanks for posting this, sounds like Jan & Dean with the background vocals turned up, great stuff-

  • Jan and Dean...all the way.

  • Sounds like a cross between the Jan and Dean version and the version by Bruce and Terry. The background vocals are slightly different. Love this stuff. Up there with some of Brian's best cuts.

  • Yeah, this version seems like the archetype covered by Flash Cadillac in the 70s.

  • Could be. I once kidded Dean about the 2 girls for every boy myth.. he winked and said, sometimes there was, and sometimes there were 2 boys for every girl. RIP Jan.
