@tet43 Aw, please do not have a broken heart ! I have been through this literally more times than I can remember, I hate it, and it is lonely and hard, but I keep going always, always. In love. Today for example I took a walk and saw the lovely roses and morning glories, and made some posters, sort of art therapy, and it is good. At least I am not turning to drug or drink, and I have lovely replies like yours to smile about ! I had an interview Friday, waiting...low-wage, but honorable work.

I live in Ontario. I'd be terribly beat if I had to find a job in a country where they require credit check to get a job. I had cancer in 2002 & also we were unable to pay our dept. store credit cards (terribly high interest rate). So, what, b/c of hitting a rough patch financially now I wouldn't be able to get a job? I have been interviewing for jobs for several years, while working 1 or 2 jobs, while in school and working 2 jobs, just keep trying to get a "real" job. So I can say from experience, this is worse; personality tests, dmv, background checks, credit checks; it seems they WANT us to lose everything? But that is crazy! or...?

Things are going exactly the same way in the UK, family history is seen as a non issue, in fact the government hates us because we can cite historical facts such as family working historys and military contributions, but it is we who are treated as second class with immigrants being given favourable treatment, as for credit checks for job applications same here too.

I am from cincinnatti ohio and i have been unemployed for a year and i am linked to the scoti program with unemployment and have not received one email for a carpenters job that will pay me at least half of what i make and the unions are down to minimum labor force with no sign of recovery. Cincy is a hi undustrial city and its in bad shape as far as jobs and morality are concerned, Iam loosing my home and memories of a life time that seem to be fading with my enthusiasm.
