None of these jokes were based on (or even similar to) anything that really happened. Political satire isn't clever if the entire joke isn't based on reality at all. In this video, Palin is defined by her quirkiness; an extremely vague trait. No gaffes or real things were referenced, it's just "LOL SHES DUM."

There have been rumors and stories about the things Palin has done to get to being the VP Candidate (forcing her son to join the military after his supposed delinquent act, possible shotgun wedding type scenario with her pregnant daughter). They covered these ideas in a humorous way. You are just failing to see that. In fact I would go further to say that they showed Palin not as being dumb but evilly cunning.
