@Raxxer1993 you hear a lot of "kh" sounds because hebrew uses those kind of sounds a lot. why does english has so many "th" sounds? why does arabic has no "p"? that's just how it is. though it is more noticeable in that video because they chose a singer with a yemenite accent that makes the "kh" sound that much deeper.
@sdr47 Not really. About half of Israel's Jewish population have roots in Arab lands. Ironically, the guy who sings this (Sasi Keshet) is completely Ashkenazi (European Jew).
seriously people think arabic is a filthy language ? Hebrew is the most ugly, filthy and barbaric language i've ever heard. This is just my opinion, i do not hate jews, i just don't like hebrew language and israeli's.
actually Hebrew and arabic are very similiar.... Saying that Hebrew is filthy, ugly and barbaric means that you think your language is just the same and even worse... Given the fact that Hebrew is older than arabic and that arabic derives from ancient hebrew.... And also, meet an Israeli before you say you hate them.
@tFighterPilot it is an argumentative subject. anyway after I wrote this comment I read about a new discovery of an Ancient City with language similar to Arabic (75%) so it approved that Arabic may not be derived from Arabic but as you said sister language.
It sound much more powerful than the English lyrics. This is now an offical side project for me to learn and possibly make new lyrics to. It deserves to be a full song.
Modern dialect? he sings in a very traditional sepharadi hebrew dialect!, the difference between classical hebrew and modern hebrew is very little since modern hebrew unlike arabic or greek hasnt been spoken for enough time to be dramatically changed.

Oops, sorry! Now I see you`ve already made the Latin transcription for the text. Sorry, I didn`t see the Latin transcription text - at the first moment, I thought that was a part of the English translation. ) Thanks for the transcription!)
Can you give the Hebrew lyrics in the Latin transcription? I mean I don`t understand the Hebrew letters but want to sing it in Hebrew so give the Latin transcription, please!
I also like better how old biblical Hebrew sounds better than new- Hebrew. And I wouldn't be able to distinguish between old and new Arabic, but I like how melodic it is. I used to study Arabic in school, but I didn't take it seriously, so now I remember maybe 10 words :)
maybe I didn't explain it good, before Abraham arabs and jews didn't exist, where are the ancestors of abraham from?which name had the ancestors of abraham? you can't deny that you arabs and jews are the same race,so jews and arabs are from where abraham or abraham ancestors were born...
Noah had got a son called "Shem" , and is the ancestor of Abraham , then Abraham had two children with his wife Sarah and his servant Agar , the first child was called Ismael and the second Isaac , Ismael is actually the Arab's ancestor and Isaac is the Hebrew (or Israelite)'s one!
I really don't understand why arabs say jews aren't semitic and I don't understand why jews say they are semitic but they are closer to europeans than levantine arabs and Iraqis.
that's hebrew with arabic accent.. hebrew don't sounds like that..
Israel belongs culturally to Europe (Eurovision Song Contest, for example) even though Israel geographically belongs to Asia. that because there is no Middle East country that don't want to kill the jews.
@wellsphere1 Authentic – Biblical - Hebrew is far more closer in pronunciation to an Arabic sound, than to an European sound. Hebrew has been preserved the best by the Yemenite Yehudim (”Jews”). They have according to Scholars also preserved the best of how the directives of Torah should be practised, compared to other big groups (e.g. ashkenazim and sephardim). More about the Yemenites can be found in the website of netzarim (dot) co (dot) il; History museum (left menu); 'Teimanim'
arabic and hebrew came from aramaic, arabs and jews are the same race with different cultre, language and religion but geneticaly they have the same ancestors and the same haplogroupes, arabs and jews came from the arabian peninsula,Abraham and sara the fathers of jews were from Iraq
The song is sung with sepharadic Hebrew pronounciation , which is the official pronounciation in Israel yet ashkenazi pronounciation had one crucial influence which was neutralizing those "arabic" pronounciation of letters.

It's 100% Hebrew, also in biblical Hebrew. Arabic is more likely the language that borrowed the word since Hebrew is more ancient than Arabic. Actually Arabic is the newest Semitic language.

Well, Borodin1992, I'd say the Jews are an older people, but really that depends on your definition of "a people". I mean supposedly Jews are descended from Isaac's younger son Jacob, and Arabs are descended from his half-uncle Ishmael - but then, since the time of Jacob, Jews were generally considered to be one people, while the Arabs were living in warring tribes and only began considering nationality when Muhammad came along, somewhere around 600 ACE.
No it's Hebrew , but Arabic and Hebrew are from the same group called "Semitic languages" ...just like Spanish and Italian are from the same group called "Romance or Latin languages"

I dont understand what you want from her... he sing in correct hebrew and this very normal... just to your General knowledge the arabic Language grow from the hebrew...
I'm planning to visit the Middle East and I think Hebrew and Arabic are beatifaul languages. What amazes me the most is that they're both ancient languages yet widely spoken. I learned both languages over the summer and they're actually very similar. I hope to get more practise when I visit Israel/Jordan/UAE this summer. Btw, great video!
Wow, what's up with the Arabic sounding of this Hebrew? :S The H's, Ch's and R's are not normal, are they? The H's and Ch's sound like "7"! And the R's are rolled! :/
I hated this at first myself, just his voice makes me like this version. ^^ He tries to sing with an Arabic touch (or oriental Hebrew) and fails a bit - Some of his 7's (which are pronounced as CH's in modern Hebrew) are in the wrong place (as in, he should have sung "ch" but he used a weird "7" sound instead, unlike the original spelling!)
And yes, the R's xD
Well, they indeed succeeded in adding an Arabic touch to this version :D
I am not sure why disconnected90 thinks that he is singing it with an arabic touch there are many accents in hebrew cause of the diaspora when many jews went to live in many different places
but MANY people in israel speak with this accent. it has nothing to do with the arabic
and theres both a hard ch sound in hebrew as well a 'h' sound which you may think sounds arabic even though hebrew is an older language
this is how original hebrew sound
and excuse my english by the way i am not from here
Disconnected90 speaks Hebrew and therefore she thinks she knows what she's talking about.
I know there are different accents, but this is modern Hebrew and talked with the Yiddish accent, most Jews speak so in Israel no matter if they're Ashkenazi or Sepharadi. I'm not Ashkenazi myself and I speak with the modern accent. Well - people speak close to this, but the singer used the wrong letters as H's and Kh's. Totally messed them up. Original Hebrew doesn't sound like that, more like Yemenite.
I might be wrong, but gimmel in Biblical Hebrew did not sound as a J. The only dialect that has this pronunciation is the Yemeni one (and only the san'ani) and most people believe it was due to Arabic influence. According to some Yemeni friends, even other Yemeni pronunciations sound like G/GH, just like the Babylonian, Moroccan, Syrian...
@lucianaperveieff I know that it's either J or GH (according to the Yemenite pronunciation), but I don't have a solid proof, so you might also be right. :)
you must admit that he lays it on rather thick. It sounds like something he is affecting: people who natively speak with a particular accent are usually much subtler about it than people who are trying to imitate them.
I LOVE THIS VERSION!!! I COMPARED THIS TO THE ARABOC VERSION AND IT SOUNDS VERY SIMILAR! too bad arabs and jews have to fight each other, theyre pretty much brothers... :(
I LOVE so much the way he's doing vibrato's in his voice, sometimes he really sing with that arabic way of singing, it is just sooo perfect, definately my fave version !!! Why the hell did they change it ???? just because of the lyrics tss v_v
I enjoy the Mizrahi ח and ר.

Btw, great video!

obitouchiha1234 3 years ago

Wow, what's up with the Arabic sounding of this Hebrew? :S The H's, Ch's and R's are not normal, are they? The H's and Ch's sound like "7"! And the R's are rolled! :/
But nevertheless a nic emeaning ^^
Vierett 3 years ago
I hated this at first myself, just his voice makes me like this version. ^^ He tries to sing with an Arabic touch (or oriental Hebrew) and fails a bit - Some of his 7's (which are pronounced as CH's in modern Hebrew) are in the wrong place (as in, he should have sung "ch" but he used a weird "7" sound instead, unlike the original spelling!)
And yes, the R's xD
Well, they indeed succeeded in adding an Arabic touch to this version :D

Wow, so I kinda heard correctly then ^^

You surely did! :P

Original Hebrew doesn't sound like that, more like Yemenite.

fairyprincess1234 also speaks hebrew so i know what im talking about
fairyprincess1234 3 years ago
They tried to sound more oriental for sure.
In Original Hebrew, btw, it'd sound like this:
"Ani baa mimaaqom meru7aaq w'nidha7, bo jmalim ba'midhbaar sho3attim. Eth yaadhkhaa yikhrethu 3al 3aawon shal maah be'khaakh, zeh barbari ach zehu beiti. Me3arbolath shal 7ol w'ru7oth ha'mizraa7 w'ha'shamash ba'ma3araav .. Na3alah 3al marvaadh ha'qsaamim w'naa3uf le'a7adh mi'leyloth 3aarav" ..
7's are the Chet's. 3's are the Ayin's. The "aa" vowel is the wide vowel Qamats and sounds like Cholam.

@DISCOnnected90
I might be wrong, but gimmel in Biblical Hebrew did not sound as a J. The only dialect that has this pronunciation is the Yemeni one (and only the san'ani) and most people believe it was due to Arabic influence. According to some Yemeni friends, even other Yemeni pronunciations sound like G/GH, just like the Babylonian, Moroccan, Syrian...
lucianaperveieff 1 week ago
