What are you using to drive them?
How much current, at what voltage are we talking about?
I was thinking of using retractable car radio antenna motors.
They have a similar worm drive.
What do you think?

Its running with a 12V 12A battery. each motors consumes 2Amp free and 15Amp at stall.
Antenna motors could be ok but for a light machine. This one weighs 20kg.
The important thing is torque/weight/climbing angle
