the rescue dogs of 9-11 wtc are just many of the brave who put there lives on the line, without question, no matter what, a dog will always love you unconditionally thru thick and thin.
I can't imagine what all of those dogs went through. My heart goes out to them. And not only them, but the rescue workers. They have seen things that no human being should see. God bless them all!

thank you for this wonderful video!! We cherish our dogs so much and they do love us in return! We will never forget those k9's and their owners/handlers who gave so much!
If only people were as devoting, trusting, selfless and loving as dogs. I rescued my dog, now 7, from the side of the interstate at 8 weeks old. I took her in as my life long companion and responsibility she has always been there for me so much that when I found myself homeless I lived in my car with her for 4 months while pregnant until I found a home willing to accept dogs. People thought I was crazy I simply replied giving her up is NOT and option.
I too have a "Sad Dog Bowl". His name was Bear.....a pain in the butt sometimes but still a good dog. He was nowhere near the hero these dogs were. Bless them all and their owners! And to all those that past, may they find peace in a job well done!

Great video!!!!! Thank you!!! All this month we are paying tribute to the canine heroes of 9 11 on our facebook page, German Shepherd: The Best Dog On The Planet. Stop by and say hello if you like and post more pics. We will never allow what they did to be forgotten!!!!! God Bless Them All !!!!!
It is a pity more people don't see the true value of a dogs friendship and how they can help us be better people. AND they too are the hero's of the terrors of the after effects of that horrible day.
Yes, it's true that people "hid" under some (safe) debris or a blanket to let the dogs "find" them. Some of the dogs that were trained only to find living people (others are trained for both living/dead victims) would become very upset when they couldn't find anyone alive. They loved their jobs - finding living people - and you could see how upset they would become at the end of the day.
I listened one time that at the end of the day some people were hiding in order that the dogs could find them alive, so they would not feel so sad at the end of the day.
Bear was the first of the SAR dogs to die from the Hazmat at the WTC. He found many of the victims including Chief Peter Ganci and Commisioner William Feehan. There is a memorial to him at the FDNY/EMS Academy. After years of complaining about the cover-ups about the hazmat at the WTC he was to testify in Congress about the cover-up. His dad was indicted by FEMA weeks before he was to take the stand.
It's sad that a third of the WTC rescue dogs have already passed away. Without them, many families never would have had closure. Two of these dogs, Worf and Guese, are from Ohio and have already died. Remember them along with our other heroes.
This is a beautiful video!! those dogs deserve the world for doing what they did. They dont even know what they do means the world to ppl that they are helping.
Dogs seem to have this natural affinity to loving man more than any oter animal. I love all dogs and truly feel that mine are a part of my pack! I would die for them as they would my family! I can't imagine my life without these extraordinary creatures. I love all animals but canines truly understand what you are feeling and know how to respond. Many people don't recognize what they went through that horrific day and the days following. Thanks for the video!

this is so wonderful and sad at the same time.
I listened one time that at the end of the day some people were hiding in order that the dogs could find them alive, so they would not feel so sad at the end of the day.
