Turisas would be mainstream if little girls didn't like Justin Bieber enough to force their ideas on the older generations, thereby performing an insidious reversal of the usual process.
@TheLegioXII The barbarians of today will be the civilization of tomorrow.
Remember, the Saxons were but savages dressed in beast hides, and then they invaded Britain and evolved into Brittish, who later spawned the american culture.
Even the ancient Greeks were barbarians at the beginning.
Anyway, remember the Vikings were the men banned from Scandinavia. Only the soft ones remained. And if you look at it, Russia was founded by Vikings, and Russians don't seem much soft to me...
@Pyroproctos Im not going to disagree with you as i have used the same argument before, but the Scandinavians do not include Russia. I am talking about Finland, Sweden, etc. SOFT
@Pyroproctos Actually I do have one objection which is the idea that the US is British in origin. Although the British are perhaps the strongest influence, the US was specifically formed in rejection of the British government, they are the closest equivalent to the USA but many of our founding fathers borrowed huge chunks of our ideas from Ancient Rome. It is more of a combination of these two that has largely formed what the USA is today. That and multiculturalism which still pisses me off.
@TheLegioXII You're right. Actually, when you think about it, german was one vote short to be the USA's official language. Anyway, Europe was widely influenced by germanic/saxonnic people, thus are the U.S.A. (which are mostly of european culture).
Anyway, for Scandinavia, troubles always came from Vikings, the banned ones. Vikings had no home, no property, thus had to raid and fight for a living. The pirates from the 18th century were not softer, and they were christian europeans.
@Pyroproctos Wrong about being banned ones, Scandinavians had lot of diffrent tribes back then, there were lot of trading posts and villages. That day europe were full of money in weak hands(Church and monastery's), easy to rob and Europe armies were doing same under the protection of cross on their holy crusades. So it was easy choice band up and beat crap out of Europe, and we just were best ones at it.
btw pirates did not conguer England, we Vikings did. ;)
@TheLegioXII And when you take a look at Winter War, you can see that Scandinavians had not softened that much. Keeping Stalin at bay needed a lot of badassery from a country like Finland!
@Pyroproctos The Scandinavians of today are soft...the winter war was impressive. I don't know about Finland but I can tell you that a Swedish foreign exchange students I recently met is perhaps the biggest pussy i know. I have attributed him to all of Scandinavia and dare I say it I'm probably right...except turisas.
@Pyroproctos the Vikings were not reprobates. They were men who craved wealth and better soil. I myself am a Dane and have read a lot about the Viking age.

@Xx3nOxX I hate to reign on your parade, but gunpowder weapons were used in Europe as earlier as the 13th Century and by the 1600’s they had replaced knights and armour. Besides if you lived like a king in that time you’d have no electricity and wouldn’t be able to listen to this epic music!
The 80's hue to this is... uncomfortable. Otherwise this is an incredible and powerful song. I'll spend my life searching for a reason to shout "Form the line!"
Sounds like the old Conan theme, haha

@rottenvenetic They were never even close to being in charge of the universe. Rather you should ask why has scandinavian culture become so soft?
