Have you ever seen THE GREATEST GAME EVER PLAYED? I thought Shia Labeouf showed how great of an actor he was in that film. I thought he did a good job in this too.
Anyway, I did really like the film. I thought it was a load of nostalgic fun. I grew up on all three at the same time too, though Raiders is my favorite (as it usually is with people). Although what you said about it is interesting to think about.
I don't want Indiana Jones movie with Shia LaBitch! He isn't too bad in this film, but after I saw Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen I wanted to stab him in the face with a soldering iron.
It was alright. I didn't think it "raped" Indiana Jones like Matt Stone and Trey Parker do. Seriously guys, that was funny, but a little much.
I also am a big fan of the overly long title, but what they went with isn't nearly as good as the original title: "Indiana Jones and the Saucer Men from Mars." I do not exaggerate.
I was raised like you I the only Indy Film (LOL) I saw in theaters was the 4th I saw them all on DVD and only wanted to see the others because I do not want confusion when I saw the 4th I LOVE INDY now and for me my favs are

I think 2 more and a 3 spinoff be good because each generation should have its adventure trilogy and if natiional treasure does not come up witjh its 3 film this will have to be it. Then years later do a spin off with mutt then his kids and then his grand kids
The germans in 'Last Crusade' searched for the grail, because they believed that by attaining it, that meant they were god's army, that they were the select group on the planet; that makes sense with their philosophy of a master race that must subsume the others, because that's providence. They even pointed out Hitler's notorious fascination with the occult to further explain the seed for the grail enterprise.
Like if they had physically incarnated Kali the evil goddess, then it would've been much more of a visceral plot, because then it's 'kill the god, kill its followers, save the world'. Still the problem is the characters. Elsa was more engaging than...whooooeeever chick was I don't even know her name that's how paltry she is to watch. Shorty, isn't that interesting; he's a glorified parot. The priest is just evil there's nothing more abstract about him like the germans.
It's so odd: 'Temple of Doom' starts so amazingly strong (By the way look at the bar sign as the car drives off), but then it gets bogged down because there's no really interesting character besides Indy. That's it, I think. I think that's really the only thing that made it suck, that and maybe the antagonist was too ambiguous, because there's Kali and then there's the evil priest and you're not sure which you're supposed to really hate more.
My Indy viewing experience is the same as yours. I like KOCS more than TOD (though I love all 4 movies), I hated the opening scene with the teens in the car, the monkey swinging & the space ship. I was fine with the aliens besides the space ship.
I think this film was good, yet with the aliens and such, made it a lot different than the other more history-based trilogy. Just like the older Batman's, where the first two were great, third was tolderable but the fourth was outragious. Sequels that go past 3 are usually terrible.
i would have to say that thats not the case with rocky because everyone says, "WAH, ROCKY V IS THE WORST MOVIE EVER MADE, WAH!!" BULLSHIT! it was good, just not as good as Rocky I-IV and VI.
I dont see why people should complain that Indiana Jones is old, he's supposed to be the same age as Harrison Ford in that movie. I feel that Harrison Ford fits the character well, otherwise who would you have do it?
This movie just had a horrible story. Plain and simple.

This is a great film. Most people were expecting this to be the last movie, that's why they were angry at Spielberg and Lucas.

Indiana Jones is basically a pulp-style hero like Doc Savage or the Shadow. The character and his adventures just exist for pure entertainment value.
Just don't write an English essay on any of them.
