Dash8 is the backbone of the canadian airline system. it can provide service to so many smaller towns that cant support regional jets.

I flew on this type of aircraft many times...but it was for subsidiaries of the now-defunct Canadian Airlines, like Air Atlantic and Canadian Regional.
