I'll bet they wanted to change his color because someone (a compleat jackwagon) spread the lie that 'elmo' was supposed to be 'emo' and that he was red to symbolize blood. They didn't keep the color change did they? That'd be just one more thing they ruined about this show along with Cookie Monster being the 'veggie' monster, the addition of that weird pink thing with the wand, and replaceing the count with 'murfey' (I think that's it's name anyway)

Can we have less Elmo? When I was a child, thirty-some years ago, Sesame Street was built around Big Bird, the prototypical 5-year-old with the imaginary friend, Snuffaluffagus, but there was a strong ensemble that carried the show.

Change is good and even necessary in a show that has run as long as "Sesame Street" has, but little in the past 20 years can hold a candle to the show's golden years. The "cute-ification" begun under Elmo is continuing with Abby Cadabby. *Please* change course.

@marauder08901 I used to feel that way until I my son was born and he started watching Sesame Street and he only really responds to Elmo, Abby, Baby Bear, Grover and Cookie Monster. Big Bird and the rest don't grab his attention at all. At the end of the day it's about the kids; not the adults. The golden age was for a different generation. The new generation of kids may want Elmo and Abby Cadabby and that will be their golden age. Sesame Street is children's programming after all.
