How come when people preform songs live, it's always different than the recorded version? I generally like the recorded version better, but it's all good. : )
outstanding. ive been checkin out a few versions of this song (at the 1979 No Nukes concert is my fave) online and i gotta say, he ALWAYS nails it!!!! as a live vocalist, he is incredibly talented. through the years he always seems to be working with a top notch band, tight and professional. love this jam.
Thank you James Taylor for sharing your gift of music...whenever I hear your songs specially this song, I couldn't help but sing and dance with it....the feeling I felt everytime is just heavenly...it is priceless ! It just gives me soo much joy...I was in high school when I started enjoying your songs...time flew by so quickly..but now hearing you again was the best! Thank you James and God bless you!
When I listen to this song it always reminds me how blessed am I to have my wife in my life. Thanks James Taylor for having a wonderful song like this. songs in the 80's and 90's are really great comparing to songs today which mostly are all crap, no offense.

I see your smiling face, i have to smile myself!! because i love you!!!!!!!!!!! kouhiiiiiii!!! big up james TAYLOR!!!! from lyng aoma pdme kool rebel!!!!! KANAKY NORD!
When i was little my Father played this song in his car, along with many other JT songs. but this one was by far my favorite as a kid. I still remember every word! James is simply a living Legend!
Leland Sklar — bass; Sklar studied music at California State University, Northridge. It was during that time he met James Taylor, who invited him to play bass at some venues. They both thought that the work would be short-term, but soon Taylor's career took off with his first hit records, and Sklar came into the limelight. He was soon asked to record with others, and his long career began.
I'm more of a fan of faster music, but the way he composed this song is pure genius. Other than the lyrics.. Catchy guitar notes, and very nice job with the bass. Most have for the classic soft rock collection.
James Taylor and his crystal clear vocals are incomparable, what a talented songwriter and singer...and is there a Bass Player any more enjoyable to watch and listen to than Leland Sklar...the guy lays it down effortlessly with such feel...watch his hands...he just nails it!
Actually...I remember seeing Lee in concert with JT back in the late 80's. I'm so happy that I did...because shortly after that Phil Collins stole him for ever more. Oh well...just good ole capitalism! Go for the gold Lee!
Thank you! I think this is the best version of this song- even among live performances. I remember how much I loved watching this on PBS- 20 years ago! Peacelily13 is right about JT being better live. His concerts are wonderful. Note the ecstatic audience in this vid.

Ah ha! It's my favorite James Taylor song, too. The song seems to have a "skip-along" kind of feel, which matches the lyrics.
