The 4 dogs gave chase, got ahead of them, then 3 of met them as they were running into a swamp area. But the dogs ran back to the truck.=, the othr dog was still barking as it gave chase. These guys got to the edges of the Muddy River in southern Illinois where they found the dog, it was bug eyed and had to be put down. I know one of these hunters personaly, he still coon hunts, but keeps a 357 magnum on his side when he does, just in case another run in happens.
When I was a kid, there was a story about 3 guys who were seigning a pond for night fishing after a poor night of coon hunting, they had something caught in the small pond they were seigning, when they started to get pulled in them selves. They shined lights down and saw a slimy BF tangled up in their net. 1 of em went to the trucks and released the dogs and retrieved the shotguns.
Interesting encounter. Those dogs must have smelled something for them to act like that, I know coon dogs are fearless. As for the person that commented about everybody having cell phones with cameras now a days....these guys were COON hunting. SOmething you do in the dark of night. I don't think a cell phone would have captured anything in pitch black. Even WITH the guys spotlight.
Another thought about this Hunter and Their Dogs interview... What alerted the dogs and not the humans to begin with? I don't think dogs can hear lower than a human, but they hear much higher, have better smelling, see better in low light and sense emotions in other animals (Google "Understanding a Dog's Senses" at Dog Breed Info dot com). So can any of this be adapted to track BF?
Saw you on FBF, good job. How many takes did they do? For the few times I've been involved with a TV show, it's the nth take they use after you've lost track of what you had originally intended to say. Nice interview here, thanks for sharing. There were a lot of folks at the town hall meeting, maybe do more interview videos.
Why would someone (person) throw rocks at those two guys, I have heard many BF stories of them throwing heavy boulder type rocks at people near rivers, is it to scare them? or maybe they are just having a bit of fun, who the hell knows, but they are real, they have to be, too many people have seen them, why we can't catch one or at least find bones is a real mystery!
