guys, it's super computer, it's not built for gaming, it's built for processing data.
higher the flops, higher the capabilities to process data every seconds. thats why super computer has multi processor in it, and thats why it's expensive more cost at motherboard and processor.
if you want to play Crysis16xAA,16xAF,Ultra @60+fps.
@Emir3000 Dell? DELL?!?! Are you fucking mad? Dell is SHITE! Build your own PC, with top quality parts, and still be about half the price. And before you start saying "Hurr. My PC isn't Dell." Alienware is made by Dell. Geez...
@aidenscool09 Dell is a reseller of Cray computers. You order it from dell, Cray builds and ships it. And i know my Alienware is made by Dell. Best money ever spent. I do tech support and build my own pc's but I wanted an alienware laptop. I could have gotten a Toshiba, Asus, Gateway that does the same thing for less but Alienware is what i wanted. My car is cheaper than a Lamborghini but I would still take a Lamborghini over my Honda. lol.
A lot of you already have in your home PS3s and Xbox 360s that have many times over the "supercomputer" capability of a whole room full of Los Alamos hardware that was used for nuclear weapons simulations in the mid to late 1980s.
Probably not. Just because it's a super computer doesn't mean it was purpose built for gaming... I have a machine with a 64-bit quad core and 8 gig of memory...not many programs I have will ever address that much space or use the processor's 64-bit functions.
It's like having a quad processor computer and wondering why it sucks as a gaming machine when it was originally designed to be a mail server.
crap i feel bad for making you write all that, it was a joke
most video games are designed to look to a graphics card/integrated graphics for the bulk of their processing power,
the cray is basically only mass cpu/memory, nothing a game could use, unless the programmers wrote the game differently, i could go into more technical detail but meh u get the point
I type fast, it didn't take long at all. No need to feel bad.
What does get me is when people go out and spend thousands on a graphics card that was meant for CAD work and get mad when it doesn't make their came playing better.
Oh I just meant Crysis 1 (Was thinking about another shooter than I got full settings on other than Crysis 2) My old graphics card was a Radeon HD 4830 256bit. It fried and am currently stuck with integrated graphics.
@bluetorch13 Agreed but Ferrari's don't lose much value over time so good luck on that. I'll trade you my wife though... Ship it next day and I'll throw in 2 kids lol!
@bluetorch13 he most powerful computers at bestbuy, upgrade them to cat6, install centos linux to them, buy a cat6 router, connect all the machines to the router, then take an older pc and wirelessly connect it to the router (802.11n), then program all of the newer computers with clustering, and program thje cluster to send all the power to the host machine (the older computer)
The "fail" noted by Gradius0 was due to the available power in the room. As there was only one free outlet, we could only power half of the CX1. The monitoring system noticed that half of the blades and power supplies weren't working because they had no power.
If we had had two open outlets, no failure would have been seen.
