I was typing w/one hand & holding my son in the other, I meant to type "mangos" not "mangis." I didn't see any fresh pico de gallo, tomatiilos or any kind of home made fresh salsa. I hope to see some later on in the battle. What? No caldos, no fidello? No fresh, cold mango sprinkled w/chili & lime? No mango agua frescas? No torta w/mango salsa? No avacado? No guacamole? No mango atole? No beans & rice? No arroz con pollo? Asadas y guisadas? No lechuga con limon? I could go on 4eva!
I wish the mango theme could've included a WIDER variety of fresh mangos. I really enjoy fim & tart raw green mangis. Mangos from the Caribbean are absoulutely succulent! I think Mexican cuisine is very rich & flavorful, not greasy at all, unless you're frying up churros & forget to drain them on paper towels. I'm surprised I didn't see perfectly cooked crisp, sweet churros or sopapillas w/a mango dipping sauce. I havn't watched the entire battle yet. I wanna see some grilling action!
i didnt think mexican food had a storng or deep refined cooking history not strong enough to be consider in the same category as french, chinese, italian, etc. this is going to be good.
How ethnocentric and ignorant of you, but you are entitled to your own opinion. Just because the media and culinary experts keep on popularizing French, Chinese, Italian, and etc. as the only refined "food" does not make it so. Its just they get more hype than other types of food. Anyways I didn't really expect Japanese people to appreciate Mexican food and Italian and Mexican are not food brothers at all.
I wonder who was the idiot who started the whole "Both foods are similar" thing? Italian and Mexican comparision is as easy as putting a plate of spaghetti and a plate with a burrito side by side.
thats not true tacos was inventing by the native mexican indians. they dicover the corn and the tomatoes. hahahahaha and we eat alot of nopalessss, {cactus}
Actually everyone is wrong! Tacos are Native American, and they have been eating them way before there was some invisible imaginary line. The only thing different was they wern't eating them with chicken and beef or pork, but rather local game and fowl, fish and even insects. Ha!
Ummmm....Mangos! I love to slice the mangos, sprinkle some ground chili on them, fresh squeeze of lime, salt, sugar, and a squirt of fish sauce...ummmm...Mango Salad!
Yes may be they tough about burritos, but either way tortilla is mexican, I am mexican and I am a chef, so you can trust me, the tortilla born in Tlaxcala, is a mexican state, in nahuatl tlaxcala means "the place of the tortilla" and this was about 8 or 9 hundred years ago, its a shame the talk in TV about something the dont know for sure.

Mexican food is, "just hot spice the lacks subtle flavoring," ...spoken by a man who has never had good mole.

Yeah, the dude is flat out wrong. Tacos are a traditional Mexican food that predates the European discovery of the New World.
