Country ? Listen to the way she is singing. Does she sound like Dolly fucking Parton to you? Joss Stone is a soul singer. That is black music. Look it up if you don't believe me. She grew up on the likes of Aretha Franklin, Jackie Wilson & Otis Redding to name but a few. It doesn't get more black music than that .

I like the minimalist approach to this. I hate the over-produced nature of most of today's albums. This is old school, and shows character in her voice. I really like Karma too.

I hope this is not what will be released. There are several moments here where her voice is breaking (listen her sing "street" at 0:39, and the first chorus especially)! I'm a huge huge fan of Joss', but from what I've heard, I'm not liking the sound of the production of this record. I feel it all to be a bit sloppily made. Why? All her other records were gorgeosly produced.

@imfantasyparade, I can't imagine it is. I'm with you... the production quality is usually much, much better than this. We'll know for sure when the album releases... This and "Karma" are my favorite so far... And I can't wait to jam to them in the car! ;)

@imfantasyparade do not get your hopes up this is probably the final production. joss said herself she doesnt like the over produced sound. she wants people to hear the scratchy vocals on her record it makes it more real to make you feel the moment. just know it's more live this way :-/ if you listen to drive all night it is very very raw.

@ladytnumber10 The vocals on Drive All Night are goorgeous, and I love music stripped-down. The problem with this track is bad vocal performance- false notes are distracting. Her voice breaking is something I should enjoy listening to? Doing a few more takes till she got the notes right wouldnt make the vocals sound less raw! Drive All Night is raw and good, this is raw and bad. The vocals on the other songs are fine too, why did they let this one be? Im disappointed, the song itself is so good!
