Very cool. I even liked the cracking...maybe pounce a bit of shadow on it to emphasize the cracking. (Unless it's uncomfortable/itchy/etc. to have the cracking)
We're taking the kids down to Olvera Street in Los Angeles tonight for Day of the Dead and will use your tips to decorate their faces! Thanks so much! My 6 year old was glued to the screen! He loved it!
@Retro80sLove It was Diamond FX. But I don't recommend using it for the white background. It was hard to make look even and cracked on my face. If I were to do it again, I would use a white grease paint or white foundation.
@Retro80sLove Hi, just wanted to let you know how helpful all of your video's have been for me. I am just starting out & I love it!!
Can you tell me what the name of the artist you mentioned. I could not hear the last name well at all. I need to bone up (forgive the pun) on sugar skull painting!..lol Thanks again!
Oh yes!!! I used it LAST Christmas but wasn't as perfect as yours lol they are my favourite winter colours!! I used Grimas metallic blue and the two DFX whites!! 1 to sheen and 1 for swirls and stars!!! I've got stencils of stars so it's sharper but I'm waiting for your inspiration for THIS one lol x
@andreaapocalypse I would say an easy way to do watermelon would be to do an upside down triangle on your forehead (pointing down to the nose) in pink or red, with a green line across the top. Then just do little black tear drops here and there as seeds. Same thing on either cheek! I'm not sure how great it will look as I just made it up on the spot, but it seems like it would definitely say 'WATERMELON!' Just have fun! (:))
Amazing!! As always lol I'm looking forward to any Christmas ideas you have next, here in London, England!! Its getting cold so I've got blues, whites and silver in mind already lol
@s1lverLaydee I can't wait for the Christmas season! I'm not sure if you've seen it, but I actually have a video from last year that used lots of blues, silvers, and whites for a snow princess design. You should check it out :)
have you ever tried using a filbert brush to do the "flower petals" (the red half circles)? It was just a thought I had...haven't tried it myslef but thought it might be quicker although not as 'perfect'...just a thought
haha as soon as i saw your face i thought Sylvia Ji, and yes you're pronouncing it correctly like the letter G. Anyhow i made a syliva ji makeup draw out of her pictures . It's called decoupage ? i hope i spelled that correctly but it came out cool. Sylvia Ji Rocks and great tutorial :D
Adding a teeny bit of glycerin to your water will help keep your paint from cracking... like just a drop or two to your water jar. It really helps with the paints with higher wax content like DFX.
Looks great!! Can you do the painting that you use to have on your YouTube profile picture it looked like sugar skull mask but it was mainly around the eyes it wasn't a full white face and it also had some webs, does any one else know what I'm talking about? I hope you do Lisa because it was very cute
@lililoveskyle I probably won't do a tutorial on it since it's so similar to this one. If you want to try it, you pretty much follow the same steps as in the video, but cut it off at the cheeks and do the swirls around the eyes instead of the jaw area :)
I can see why it would take forever!! Today I sponged on TAG white, and it was blotchy, as expected. I dusted it with baby powder, and it evened right out! I think that would be faster, and definitely not crack, because it's lighter.
You did fabulously, as usual! Thank you so much for helping us learn to do this well.
Hi Lisa, This is a random question, but i forgot to ask you where you got your beautiful sideways cross necklace from?? Hope you don't mind my asking you :)
Yes! I've been waiting for you to do your sugar skull! And you posted it on my bday. Happy bday to me! Hee hee. I haven't even watched it yet. I was so excited when I saw it that I had to comment first. Thanks Lisa!!!
Hi lisa hope you and your family are well :) I love this look is does look like one i can try, you always make it look super easy, which we all know it's not lol Thanks for the vid, and i'll will look forward to the next one, as always :)
This is soooo perfect !!! I love your artwork this year :)))))) Hey, as I wrote the word "artwork" you said it at the same time in the video :D Awesome tutorial !!!
Great sugar skull, Lisa!! I just tried my hand at one the other day, they are sooooo fun to do! I love the purple you used in the eye sockets...thanks for another wonderful tutorial!!!
@mmadkins2008 I know! I'm not really sure why it took so long, it doesn't really look like it should have. Maybe it was because I was having a hard time getting the right camera angles... Anyway, I'm glad you liked it!
I didn't really like the way sugar skulls looked until I saw this. I think that the way you did this design was phenomenal! Keep the videos the videos coming!!! They are SOOO helpful♥
