  • I don't have this one anymore, it suffered a fall that would have damaged most MP3 players so don't go blaming the "obsolete fragile mechanics" because the actual CD mechanism was fine, it was the volume button and the switch that opens the lid. I now have a similar model which is white, and has a built in radio (which I hardly use :)

  • How do I play MP3 files on this Walkman? Will burning them on a regular CD and then popping it in work?

  • @MGSROCKS1 This walkman cannot play MP3 files. Until recently sony had another model that cost about $50, it had the screen and buttons all on the lid, and I believe it had MP3 capabilities. Sadly, sony has discontinued that model and now only offers this one, a basic white one, and another that looks the same but has a radio built in.

  • @dickcheney6 Oh wow thanks for the clarification. How do you personally listen to your music in this particular Walkman? What format should I put my music flies in and what type of CDs (CD-RW or CD-R) should I put them on? I really appreciate the help man

  • @MGSROCKS1 I have used sony and maxxell in the past. I've never used CD-RW's because CD-R's are cheap enough and it's not as though they contain lead or anything. However, I'm pretty sure that Sony and Maxxell CD-RW's are just as good as their other products.

I actually still have a tape recorder so I use that when I need something re-usable, or when I just have like 3 songs I want to bring along. I tend to buy "real" CDs unless I already have half the songs on it on the computer.

  • I have the DNEO500 and the DEJ1000 i just recently bought the dej1000 at a good will store for 6 it wasssnt working but i gently rubed the lense with my shirt and t started working because i wanna kmake my my dnei500 asa backup cause i have had that one since 03 its taken alot of abuse and miracoulously it still plays as if its new wmy dnei is the one thats silver with red that looks like it has the a red suyp on the top very very reliable walkman but its huge 2003 model :(

  • I have to say all iPODS are crap. Tiny sound quality and all the rest of it. Sony walkman is the one, i have the x series, never heard sound like it but then again Sony has a reputation for high end sound quality so you know.

  • It is funny how you claim you get CD players for their sound quality, because you are an audiophile, yet you don't even have a hi-end headphone. You are no audiophile. Did you also know that you can rip CDs with no loss of sound quality and store them in your MP3 players or Ipods? Your excuse is not good enough!

  • It's not sound quality that I'm after, it's that CDs are not quite as complex and more universal. Cd players don't crash, never need to be reformatted (not that you need to do it THAT MUCH with an MP3 walkman) almost every CD player takes AA batteries (I have rechargeables) as opposed to a built in battery on (the majority of) MP3 players which, once it ceases holding a charge, requires taking the walkman apart just to replace it! Why not just have a COVER like a cell phone to replace it???

  • @flipwarrior

    calm down dude.

  • his money

he get wat he want with it

b-sides cd player r simpuler and stuff

  • CD Direct sound is way better than any MP3 Player despite any EQ it may have. MPC, ACC or whatever digital format is garbage quality compared to direct CD Sound.

    Ask any Audiophile

  • However, I have nothing against people who use MP3 players, so don't think that I'm trying to be hateful at people who listen to music on MP3 players. I just personally would rather use something that's not so complicated.

  • It's not that I can't afford an MP3 player-in fact, several are around the price of your average CD player these days, but the ones in that range usually have abysimal user interfaces- but it's more that I'd rather just spend that money on other things, and I don't have to spend more money to get a bigger hard drive-yes, a hard drive would definately hold a pretty large library of music, but that doesn't account for other things the hard drive would be used for as well. Plus, I like album art.

  • Nice discman there, does it have a dedicated line-out option?

  • I don't see where a "dedicated line out" would be useful. Most stereo systems should have some method of connecting to a 3.5mm stereo jack, which on most stereos is labeled "line in". If by that you mean a 2-wire connection, then no, it doesn't have that. Pretty much the only things I've seen that have that are "home" CD or DVD players. I don't know of any walkmen of any format that have a 2-wire connection like that.

  • Great Video, My De-220 walkman just broke as well and Im having to look for a new sony model for cheap

  • This model came with the car kit, it cost $40, but you can get the exact same model sans the car kit for $30. Great price considering sony's product reliability. This has been a good CD player BUT the battery meter is a bit "indecicive" as I like to say i.e. it "bounces" between 3 and 2 bars (out of 4) a lot. (2 bars is kind of like "if you're going on a long trip soon, replace the batteries" kind of thing, i.e. an "early warning", 1 bar is like it will die in a few minutes)

  • You can get any of sony's in-production products at the sonystyle website.
