So what has to be done? ABOLISH FILIPINO AND REINSTATE SPANISH! It's the only NATIVE language here which NEUTRAL to ALL regional/ethnic groups in the country. It's the REAL and SOLE National Language of this country that's why it's called Filipinas and NOT Tagalistas. Not to mention that Spanish is the language of our noble heroes, of the Revolution; the language that defines our culture, heritage and identity as a one nation.
Tagalog is just Tagalog. That idea to unify the country with a standardized REGIONAL language is so stupid. To the Tagalog-speaking provinces this is good, of course. But how about the Cebuanos? The Ilocanos? The Ilonggos? And other native groups in the Visayas and Mindanao? Tagalog is FOREIGN to them, so "Filipino" is ALSO FOREIGN to them. No wonder this country is still divided because of the resistance of other non-Tagalog provinces against "Filipino language" because it's still TAGALOG!
From my understanding, the Japanese actually fostered Tagalog & didn't want the natives to speak in english. Prior to that we had no writers in Tagalog, they all wrote in english or spanish & tagalog was not taught in school. It was the Japanese that started teaching Tagalog in school because they were very Pro-Asian & Tagalog was Asian whereas Spanish & English were not.
I am sick of referring to the language as Filipino and having people trying to correct me by saying it is called Tagalog.
The official name of the language of the Philippines is Filipino, and it is really not up for debate because this is what the Filipino government decided the name should be.
thank you sooo much for upload this video.. Now I understand why its so hard to learn the Filipino language.. however I also understand its also a version of Tagalog and I still think it a One solid language needs to be put in place..
To me foreigner need to know we are a great mix of diversity and culture. In some circles many believe to be Filipino you should speak "Filipino" i ask what if I speak cebuano or illongo what am I? 2nd class
