The American Special Forces can trace their origins to the British. In WW2 Royal Marines trained Ranger candidates. Upon graduating they were given the same thing Royal Marines wear: a GREEN BERET. SBS predate the SEALs by about 20 years. A Brit is more likely to make a career, given it can take 10 years to make Corporal in the Royal Marines or the Army. Marine Recon is exceptionally demanding, and does not get the credit it should. 3-5 years of experience and an NCO to even be considered.
