i would really like to purchase a guitar for this type of playing, id should have good harmonics and easy playability especially in the high register. dose any body have any suggestions for a guitar primarily in the 600-1500 dollar range
@PIMPZproduction I think: Martin GPCPA4; Takamine GB-7C and Yamaha APX1200 are around that price and are good guitars but after all it's a matter of personal taste.
I'm sorry mate I cannot upload the lesson here (copyright issues) but in the link that you have on the description of the video you'll find the complete lesson.
Your playing is really nice. When I play this style I get two notes ringing out from both ends of the strings. I want the right side of the string to sound out but not the left side. When I hear Justin or Andy playing, their notes sound the same as if they were plucked. I just figured that I was doing it wrong. Did you notice this when you first started this style of playing? Can the way notes are tapped lesson the left side of the string resonating? Thanks, Bailey
@bailey221b My advice would be to tap firmly (not hard but firmly) so you avoid those "left side" notes that you hear. Also having amplification work really nice, if you record yourself with a mic is fine of course but with an electroacustic guitar you can mix the air mic signal with the line signal and that's a really nice way to get a sound for this style.
Hey man, this is great! Now I´m gonna practice until I nail this, it sounds beautiful! :)
But there´s a song kinda similiar to this called "Bellflower" from the game "Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean" or something like that. Could you by any chance give it a try? See it as a request or a challenge if you will :)
If you decide to try, I imagine you´ll need to record more than one track. If my ears interpret it correctly, there´s at least two guitars and a keyboard involved :>
@nrc141 Mate, i'm tired to hear that on every video. The full lesson is on the link that's on the description. This is the main video of the lesson, "the finished model" if you will. If you want the transcription, the little videos with the explanation go to the link.
Wow this "lesson" sounds awesome! I learned how to play Knock On Wood a little while ago.
Question: Do you recommend learning more conventional guitar playing at easier levels before trying any of this tapping business? I'd be willing to learn how to play "regular" guitar, but doing this stuff is SOOOO much fun!
@HandiAce Thanx! Regarding the question....I think you can train yourself to play this kind of tunes directly, without the "regular" practicing, but take in care that there are plenty of things that "regular" playing and this playing share. You can practice both in parallel, I think that's the best thing to do.
Dude, SPECTACULAR!!!! Honestly this is better than Justin King, my big problem with his style is that he doesn't pace himself properly and often tries to play much faster than he should. You've got an excellent mix of melody and rhythm here, A+ ;D
