  • you're a tad incoherent. is it horseshit or bullshit? try to figure it out before posting a comment

  • your cousin is a horse?

  • Firstly, i hate you.

Also you mean age three not "3 age"

Also, kudos to every other point raised on your post.

Lastly, I really fucking hate your attempt at some kind of metaphorical insult using horseshit, you're an idiot.

P.s. i wish you were dead

  • gotta admit, this album takes some getting used to.

  • but once you get used to it, you're addicted.

  • most definately

  • the best song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Amazing!!!

  • c'est par ici que tu recommenceras

  • сумерки

  • magnificent.

  • Amazing :O

  • wth

  • I like the machine gun sounds at 2:58, really effective. I love Portishead, but I've never heard this song by them.

  • Would love to see Portishead score a surrealistic psychological thriller.

  • Will always remind me of Skins. :)

  • same here !

  • same also!

  • shut up ya tramp

  • Spooky :)

  • i dont think like that but is yur opinion so =)

  • aprende a cantar y a tocar la guitarra jaja...y a hablar porfavor... latino asqueroso subdesarrollado :)

  • LOL

  • It kinda reminds the sound of an MRI scanner ... scary =)

  • ooh thats actaully scared me a litle bit. id hate to go in one of them if it sounded like this!

  • This song is out of this world amazing... never heard anything like this. Love them and the song!

  • ROADS, COWBOYS and MACHINE GUN, Beth is Truly Hypnotic. Thanks 'Portishead'. Brilliant :)

  • this is my fav Potishead song

  • old school setup, patches & all

  • Brilliant! This video gives me the idea that the song was recorded at the bottom of the sea in a submarine's engine room. Very "das boot". :)

  • Love this song! Beth's voice borders on total despair. Need to be in the right mood to listen it though or it just makes you bloody depressed!

I you like this tune check out Psiv Ablurdyms- Phrom 20,000 Leeguez on my channel. Think you might like it.

  • lol if you dont get this song then just go back to the best video of all time!!!! i think that west fella can get ya the youtube url...

  • its supposed to be of shooting (the drum) and stuff so I think it fits the emaning of the song.

  • Beth! My love!

  • I'm thinking sometimies, where is "-hop" in most of trip-hop artists. Really harsh drum, and all the "third" album is to hard for me to call it trip-hop. It's to expermiental, but i still like them.

  • [Deeply insightful comment into human nature inspired by and pertaining to the song]

  • her voice is hauntingly beautiful...mesmerizing

  • There is no better and worse in arts, there are only emotions. Wheter you feel an emotion or not and wheter you like to feel it or not is the only important question, and since this differs from one person to another, from one context to another, it is impossible to say that a song is "good" or "bad".

I love this song and the more it repeats, the more I fall into it, but I understand how people can dislike it.

  • it's gritty..yet bleak

  • The reason I say this is awful without elaborating on it is because if I were to elaborate on it, I would probably be accused of making "a big deal out of it".

In short, it's the percussion that kills this song. Don't call me closed minded to experimental use of drums etc. I just don't think it's put to good use with something so harsh and repetitive.

  • I don't think it seems like you made a big deal of it, you're awfully defensive aren't you?

  • I think it's brilliant in its simplicity. That one sample is kinda nasty and dirty, sure, and repetitive, sure, but it's beautiful regardless. One might venture so far as to call you close-minded, but each is also entitled his opinion. I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who might argue this isn't even music. Doesn't lessen it in my ears in the least.

  • awesome !!!

  • This song is awesome =p gets you pumped.

  • my 7th grade english teacher turned me onto this band they are great because it is nothing like iv ever heard

  • At first I said "fuck this monotonous music, this sucks" but now is growing on me and I absolutely love this song. :)

  • LOOK AT THE TITLE OF THIS SONG!!! it's not supposed to comfortable, easy listening. As an American this song tears me apart...all the violence, all the war, UGH!!! And what this songs says is true - "remedy, to agree, is how I feel"

we can change things if only we begin to feel differently inside, and to CARE!

  • Grande Portishead!

  • siempre q fumo los escucho. estan redy!!

  • I'm sure it's been said a million times, but this could not be more reminiscent of NIN. That's a good thing, to be sure, but I really prefer the P'head of the first two albums. Their eponymous record cannot be outdone.

  • If you want to hear something reminiscent of NIN check out Android Lust.

PH is a little more dynamic than Trent

    Still love NIN though

  • no words to describe it. whenever i hear this song it feelks like falling into a deep black sea.5*.

  • PHAT tune.. 5*

  • The last part with the piano reminds me the song of Terminator 2. :) This song tears me apart; the idea is very beautiful, but I can't stand it.

  • Portishead is the best!

  • lobo from Brazil;;;; lisérgico

  • this is one of the BEST SONGS EVER!

  • Потрясающе, как и всё, что делает Portishead!

  • The album is great. It takes some getting used to though. It gets greater with every play. It's very hypnotic and great with drugs. I usually like to hotbox my car to this song blasting.

  • With no nicer way to put this... this song is awful. Rate me down or whatever if you're ignorant enough not to accept others' opinions... -.-

  • It's not that they're too ignorant to accept your opinion, people rated you down because you are a moron for not elaborating on why that song is awful.

  • beautiful...

  • listening to portishead is like delving into another world. this world makes me uncomfortable i have to say.

  • This doesn't feel like Portishead-- hypnotic, I can't wait to hear the rest of the album.

  • It's already out, and have been for quite a while. It's called Third.

  • interesting comment man that speaks volumes

  • This is amazing. Scary and threatning... It makes me feel very uncomfortable. Very good lyrics.

    I love it!

  • wow this is amazing

  • I thought the same thing until I put my headphones on and found out what was going in the song... It's got a lot going on in it. You either feel it or you don't.

  • good luck!

  • Ok.

  • This song is absolutely amazing! I love beth's voice. Yeah, I remember. I was always listening to this when I was really depressed.

  • that machine gun sound and Beth's voice complete each other perfectly. this song is electrifying and chill in the same time

  • love this song >D

  • i wonder if they got the idea of the drum bit from jimis machine gun.......although it is an obvious option...

  • She is...totally...fucking...Amazing dot

    Bat is magnificent.

    I'm from Saint Petersburg, Russia.

I think that it couldnt be better than this.

    Amazing...

  • The DOEPFER MAQ16/3 gives a nice analog look in the background ;-)

  • This is an amazing song!!!!

  • It's been said before, maybe even in these comments.... but that ending IS the Terminator theme.

I doubt he intentionally "stole" it... more likely one of those "wow that sound I just made up in my head sounds great" moments that later turn into "oh yeah that's where I heard it before...doh".

  • This song is better than the Terminator theme.

  • Doesn't matter. Everyone licenses these things.

  • Hence the name, "Machine gun"

  • drums are repetitive....... almost...like a...machine gun

  • this is the sound I hear when I haven slept in days and my boss is asking where ive been

  • lol!

  • Of course it would.... it's called sarcasm...

  • Never understood why they don't just record the song and play it on stage... seems pointless to play it more than once... duh!

  • As much as I find the drums repetative, I can't stop listening to this because of Beth's beautiful voice. So mournful.

  • thats weird 'cause i can't stop listing to the drums. They are the heaviest thing ever but her voice balances it out. Sucha' great track.

  • Still does that right two decades later. It's called professional talent. The lady has chops, thank the lady.

  • haha my friend said it was pronounced porti-shed. I thought that sounded weird. Thanks!

  • How do you pronounce the band name?

  • show de bola!!!

  • show de bola!!!

  • love their music,

the sound here is awsome, very strong,

does anyone know what this song is about?

    I got the Machinegun part...

    =)

  • The interpretation of the lyrics has several variations (noted several places -- but in my words) on the idea of desiring and finding a way to faithfully serve another unquestionably to fulfill one's life with purpose, only to discover in the end: manipulation, deceit, bitterness and abandonment after being used for another's benefit. Some feel it's about organized religion and God; others, the national military and patriotism -- specifically, the soldier at the end of the Great War (WWI).

  • love this best beat. cant stop listening

  • It's not their best music imo, the singing is cool but the rest is pretty damn simplistic and almost sloppy in parts, at least it sounds as if the midi triggers are misfiring at times on the drums.

  • fucking GREAT

  • It's eerie, haunting. I love it!

  • best music of portishead!

    xxx

  • this is the best beat ever.

  • I love this music!!!!

  • this is just for really music lovers

is not for people like you

    (asshole)

  • music is music its not for any one type of person.

  • wtf!?

  • if god did not exist it would be necessary to invent him!

  • Site your source...that quote is not yours..LOL

  • this is weird, first i though i didnt liek this...then i listined it for the fun couse it soudns funny and now i actuelly like it :O

  • This is the shit...

  • IF YOU DONT LIKE IT DONT SEE IT

  • I've loved her singing ever since I first heard em'

  • her singing takes getting used to ...i still havent got used to it, sounds off key

  • Eeek, I wouldn't judge them on this copy of the song, it sounds pretty terrible. I really don't like the video, either the song sounds suddenly a whole lot less mysterious

  • Ever since I saw them on Saturday Night Live years ago....well...just say my wife hates it when I crank it!

  • i think a need some asprin maybe it will sound better....compared to thier old stuff this a departure...lamo terminator at the end .

  • I loaf this song so much.

    -_-

  • you loaf it? sounds gross
