Originally this song was going to be used in the film during the sequence where they're getting chased by the police. By the time the film was being edited "Can't Buy Me Love" was a hit single so the producers decided to use that song twice. As a result this song was cut out. However, it was included on the American soundtrack album released by United Artists.

I haven't seen this one in a while, even though I have the aforementioned VHS of "Hard Day's Night" socked away. Personally, I prefer this longer version of the song, and I liked the visuals a lot.

This whole song isn't very "Lennonesque", but there's a little hint - when he sings "But I'll come back" you instantly know it's him: melody-wise this piece is pure Lennon.

This prologue was seen at the beginning of the film when it was re-released in theaters in 1982. It was also included on the VHS home video version. For some reason it's not on the 2 disc dvd, even as a bonus feature.

The version of this issued in the UK was edited down. Many people think the US version just repeated the verse, but it doesn't. It's sung differently, especially on the line 'get locked up today' at 1:27, which has 'up' enunciated correctly and 'today' in a different tone.

OMG!! SO cool!!! I've always loved this song, & prefer the extended version..& always felt badly that Dick Lester preferred to use a song mainly composed by Paul,("CBML") *twice* in the film, over this song, which was mainly written by John. I love *both* John & Paul, so it's not about "favorites". I just know John wrote "ICI" for the "escape" scene & Lester felt it was a little too "dark" & used "CBML", instead, 2x in the film, which I'm sure upset John..so at least it made the promo. :)
