  • link?

  • Well that's cool

  • A well-trained dog does what he's commanded to do. Anyone who can't train a dog to either be friendly or aggressive to the agitator isn't a dog trainer.

  • great job

  • sweetness

  • Great vid!

Man, dogs should be respected even more than people they're developing lots of great skills to help no only the police but handicap people, help autistic individuals, simply give joy to people's lifes and yet there are a lot of motherfuckers who mistreat, disrespect them. That's why most people suck, they don't give a shit about dogs... I feel so sad to see abandoned dogs in the streets.

  • loved it!!!

  • I have a 9 month old Belgian Malinois. She is excellent with learning new commands. Very smart and protective. Great video.

  • Fuck the police and their dogs

  • can you train our dog to be obedient, he is a really tough guy, he's called marley. marley and me cant work well.

  • wow... this is wonderful

  • awesome channel man!

  • i like the video these guys r really talented and do there part very correctelly

  • GET EM JACKSON!!!! :]

  • German Shepherds & Belgian Shepherds are my favourite breeds of dog, they are the most loving, protective, loyal dogs I know

  • amazing traning i love dogs..

  • Truly amazing creatures!! I think the handler was petting the dog after bite command to see if the dog would give up. The dog has to keep the grip no matter how unnessicary it may seem. Idk I don't train dogs. Lol.

  • Bite work is first taught in prey drive, but later, as the dog matures, defense drive needs to be added as well.

I think that this is excellent training video, and especially with dogs doing obedience while another dog is doing bite work, shows the level of distraction being taken by the obedience dogs, and these dogs are being "proofed" to ignore all things.

I still question the logic of the helper petting the dog after the "out" command is given and the bite work is finished.

  • @Adiii5 the trainer is the person with the bite sleeve getting bitten. the handler who is holding the dog, is also being trained along with the dog.

  • it's silly to teach a dog that bits the helper to then get petted by the helper. The helper is not a "Friend" of the dog, but represents what in real life would be a criminal. These dogs bite in prey drive, for the prey object. What dog would be petted by a criminal? The defense drive is developed when dog believes the helper can hurt the dog

good initial training in prey drive but why pet them?.

  • @alexnds1 The 'Training' taking place with the dog is teaching him to differentiate when the handler makes the call of when to bite and when not to. Not all bad guys jump up and down, as some are passive. It's a big liability if you have a dog that just goes on 'motion' or when the dog deems it right. The picture is the same, but I am telling the handler when the dog is to bite or not to.

  • @fredhassen Forgot to add that not everyone that approaches a police dog is a bad guy, so you don't want the dog just biting when someone approaches.

  • @fredhassen

I'm also training Police dogs butt In the Netherlands,

Most Dogs you got there are Dogs trained in the Netherlands,

Because you're using commands whe're using in the Netherlands

    Like Zit,Blijven,

I'm at the moment training with a 1 year old Mechelse shephard.

If you typ Twister van Quirijnen in and than click search,

You will find my dad's dog,He worked 3 Years with Twister as

a police dog in the practice,And Twister is now 12 Years old,

    And a real family dog.

  • @alexnds1 it teaches them to have a calm bite and good grip, not a nervous chewing bite with poor grip. When the dogs go out into the world, and they actually get a real bite, they hold on with good firm grip until told to out.

  • @alexnds1 Teaching the dog to distinguish what the handler tells them is the difference. Obviously, if the dog gets to just decide whatever he wants to do, it would be a liability and he'd be biting everyone. I am telling the handler whether I am a threat or not by telling him 'bite' or 'pet'. The handler makes the decisions. Having the ability to turn him on and off.

  • @alexnds1 Excellent work, excellent. (retired Chief of Police and 7 years as a K-9 Handler). This is the way it should be done, makes us proud!

  • @alexnds1 yeah those k 9 are good

  • @alexnds1 yeah

  • fuck they are so HYPERRRRRRR

  • i have a 3 yr old shepherd. she would die to protect my kids. their gr8 dogs.

  • damn i want this job

  • What does stay mean? LOL

  • That black one is GORGEOUS!!!!

    2:47

  • german shepherds the best dogs period..

  • @brapidrotation thats your opinoin and the dog isnt a shepard idiot

  • looks familiar

  • where is this place?

  • When I decide to buy a dog, I'm definitely going to get a german shepherd......

  • You're better with a Belgian Malinois.

They look similar( It's also a shepherd),

but BM's are faster, stronger, tougher and more vivid.

The first dog in the video is a BM.

    Greetz

  • No offense pal, but, no. Belgians are no smarter than gsd, and gsd is no smarter than bms' themselves

  • @Ginghamdogcp I agree with you. I work with two protection trained GSDs and our company also has Belgian Mals which ive worked with, yes they are faster and more agile, but also very nervous in some cases, but otherwise, the two breeds are the same. Both highly intelligent, willing, strong dogs, well suited to the job. But my personal opinion, having worked with both, shepherds are definately better.

  • lol ya they are lke gsd on crack

  • @vman604 its not a german shepard

  • Man, that last dog just wanted to attack. If I was a criminal I would really hope they did not bring the k9 unit to catch me. Great work guys, these dogs are very well trained and a crucial part of the police force.

  • nooooooooooooo

  • dude how do i make da sleeves ?? i need one

  • good to see responsible handing

  • these dogs are so well trained. its amazing that they automatically go back to the handlers left side after being told to heel

  • you just request to be a K-9 unit after your done with the academy i believe but that means more training : ) i leave oct 13 to go into the army to be a Military Police officer and hopefully i can request to be K-9 with them because i want to work with dogs also

  • Omg I wanna work with these dogs so bad... anybody know if I have to have a degree in criminal justice to be on the K9 team?

  • that Belgian Malinois looks like he's got to go somewhere fast.

  • I have a lot of respect for the people who train these Police dogs,,,it takes sooo much time and effort that in the end I would just get annoyed and I am sure the dog would sense it,,which probably wouldn't help me any....

  • today at school theyy did the same show!!!

  • How do they initially train the dogs to attack on command?

  • In the same way you train a dog to fetch. It is trying to fetch the person though, who is going to put up a fight. The dogs just know how to listen

  • well, the type of dogs used in police work we bred for taking people down. the dogs already know what to do, the trainers just have to make sure they dont go after the wrong peopel or go for some major artery.

  • My message was an answer to austin132, and sure I knew it was sort of superficial (of course not every dog can be trained and training involves a lot of work and a passion which is not everybody's) but I still don't find very nice to see a thumb down with no explanations...especially since my intention was to tell someone who is probably a dog enthusiast about a dog sport he seem not to be aware of

  • haha lol

  • So Would if the criminal says "get'em" and the dog attacks the cop?

  • No.. The dog only listens to its owner...which is one specific cop.

  • the dogs are "listening" to the electric collars around theyre necks if u look closely. look also at the left non controlling hand what are they all holding?

  • If you use an Ecollar correctly, and train correctly, the dog will 'listen' to you. These dogs are obviously IN TRAINING and doing well. You have a strong opinion about something you don't seem to know much about. It is a tricky peice of equipment to utilize properly, and 95% of trainers (including the 'dog whisperer') don't know how to use it properly. I would know--I have retrained quite a few dogs that were screwed up from bad training with E collars.

  • Hey whoever made this video good job on showing "joe public" how to police train dogs. Really Smart.

  • You're an idiot - this is hardly 'top secret' information. There's all kinds of books and videos out there on police dog training. Infact it's good people can see this and train their dog accordingly, a trained dog is better than a volatile untrained one. (If the owner is responsible)

  • Policedogs are amazing. Look how eager the dog is to please its owner and to do the work. Love these dogs.

  • Yeah, these dog's are really responsive and really obey. Military dogs aren't really obediant. I think it's the constant change in handlers.

  • you are wrong about military working dogs. They may have diffent handlers in thier careers, but they are just as obediant. I being a vet, and currently in iraq working with our military , have talked to mwd handlers, and also look up mwd adoptions and read the stories of some of the dogs that have been adopted after they retired from duty.

  • Yes, they are absolutely beatifull and fun dogs to work with.

  • peopel think its soo hard to teach a dog to detect weed its not acually and i have a sharpie and i every time it smells weed it runs towrd it

  • can you have this training done without being a cop? because i got a german sheperd thats about 8-10 weeks old

  • yes you can

  • Not sure what kind of training you are looking for your dog but sure you can, many dog-sports are designed to develop abilities similar to that used by k9. Try to search for example for schutzhund in the internet.

  • so "get em" is secret police code for get them.

  • Excellent work.

  • beautiful dogl! does the police dog know the difference between the people with the padding and the bad guys? or does he just do his job so he gets a treat?

  • If you look at 1:00 to 1:25, the guy with the padding walks up and pets the dog twice... the padding really makes no difference with a well trained dog.

  • thats awesome

  • Belgian Malinois

  • what breed is that?

  • german shepard

  • Belgian Malinois

  • bulbasaur

  • I think the first thing you need to do is go back to school and learn to Wright, before you train your dog to attack people. Second, it takes countless hours to have your dog be well rounded enough to be able to perform a task like a controlled attack, other wise your just making a vicious dog that will probably end up biting your ass one day.

  • "Wright" in your context is actaully "write" and it does not need to be capitalized. Maybe someone should practice what the preach.

  • damn it, i was going to applaud you up until you had a typo with *they*.

    but, good comeback XD

  • i was going to do the same, until i saw "the".

  • wrong they are scary but not that the impornet i whant to teach my dog that when i tell hem attack that person he attack... thats all..... so please hellp me

  • lol? they have to be trained. dogs just dont learn english/german by the day. and most of the dogs that people want to train to attack are terrible for that kind of work. if you want to start making your dog "scarier/meaner" dont pamper the damn thing and train it.

  • how to let hem attack like this dog please helllp me how i whant my dog to be strong and scary

  • Hint, french poodles will never be strong or scary.

  • ur my pet u lazy twat, i didn't allow u to speak, soooo....STFU

  • German shepherds are great, but I have to admit that belgian malinois are better, at least for police work.

  • german shepards are good dogs, but they have a weeker jaw bite than a rottie or a bullmastive and doberman. if they want to make a bad guy pay..they should use a rottie cuz they have a jaw pressure up to 300 lb and the german shepard 160 lb and rotties use their body and bite.

  • Honestly, it's not ALL about bite strength in police work. It's about the dog's ability to learn and do his job with precision. Certain breeds can do this better than others, hence they become good K9s. Any dog can truly bite and break skin, so jaw strength is a moot point in K9 training.

  • i know that as a fact, and i understand what your saying..but i still say those dogs are more able to do that job.. i have a cuzin thats a police officer and his rottie roxie (she died this year) was a police dog and she was the best out of all the german sheperds and the other dogs, she caught them all and she was smart and fast, the funny part that she was the runt of the litter and they wanted to put her down but she did her job great. but what can i say every dog is good

  • wow u must be a slutty bitch LMFAO

  • i would hate to be bit by those dogs!lol.

  • how old are the dogs?

  • This is amazing, I am definitely going to call you guys. The dogs are so cute!!!

  • Training a dog to "turn out just like these dogs" takes a lot of work, dedication, and discipline. Nothing you would understand!

  • Pls. seek professional help.

  • all my dogs we have had were german shepherds n i wona become a dog handler in police wen im older lol

  • training in a dfft language is smart...

  • i would have that one

  • i have a german shepherd

  • SIT MEANS SIT - COOL!!!

  • Its true most American police dogs come from other countries, mostly Belgium and Holland so the handlers speak commands in those languages.Breeds like the Belgian Malinois and Dutch Shepherd have replaced the German Shepherd in police work because they are lighter, have a stronger bite and easier to train. Both the BM and DS are in this video.

  • anyone ever heard of CT's K-9 Bruno

  • many of the dogs come from holland because whe are good in training dogs

  • maybe, but you are bad at spelling.

'whe' is not the correct way to spell 'we'

  • The guy in black at 04:15 says "blijven, blijven" which is dutch for "stay, stay".Does that mean that dog was imported from the netherlands?

  • they are trained in a different language so that they dont attack when someone commands it in english. or if they do attack the person being attacked cant give it commandds .

  • do you know in what language they command here?

  • nah its actually because they get them imported from Germany etc pre trained with some command unless they get them young.

not saying that it isnt a advantage but a good dog would only listen to his owner.

  • I noticed that in bite senario, dog is not attacking hand with the weapon in it? because the pads on the other hand?? wouldnt that confuse the dog and potentially put him at risk to be attacked by purpertrator?? just a note to those who maybe training their own dog at home.

  • These are GREAT dogs, I actually have a German Shepherd, she is amazing, I never have to worry about anyone coming into my home or hurting my children. However, has anyone ever asked what happens to these dogs once they are " retired" from the police?? Sad, some end up being in dog pounds, my mother adopted a " retired" police k9 years ago, his name was King, he was also the best dog ever, I guess he was there because of medical reasons, we gave him a great home until is last day.

  • can siberian huskies be police dogs?

  • hahahahahah! No they are most hper and friendlist dogs around. They just have a evil look to them.

  • They are very self-willed, and therefore difficult to train. Training huskies is HALF the battle of Sled-racing.

  • Siberian Huskies are far to independent to be trained properly for K-9, but do make fantastic Wilderness Search and Rescue dogs. Them, with Bernese Mountain Dogs, and Alaskan Malamutes are the most common search and rescue dogs in the Nordic areas of the world.

  • arent theu supposed to attack the hand with the weapon first?

  • An *actual* protection/police/military dog should, unfortunately the dog was apparently trained for the *sport* of schutzhund, which a lot of 'experts' think is the same thing.

  • German Shperherds, Dutch Shepherds and Malinois; all the dogs in this video make excellent K9s. Gotta love those sweet sounding words, "Get 'Em"!!

  • i saw this dude in the street he was running away from a police dog and he turned around and kicked it then he turned around again to kick it again and he got bite in the balls

  • That's bad. Bet that hurt. I'd make sure my dog had rabies before he bit him lol.

  • Bon dressage. Je fais du RCI avec mon rottweiler. J'aime beaucoup cette discipline car elle comporte du pistage de stupéfiants, personne fugitive, personne disparue, pistage d'objets en campagne, mordant cessation, garde au ferme etc...etc...

  • i am from romania. that;s in europe (est europe)i have two police dogs. here in romania german shepperd rules. it isnt any dog better than g.s for the police. he is the most equilibrat dog. we have a ukrainian rase of german shepperd wich is taller and bigger with short tale but not very short.. and i can say that it is more agressive than the malinois. malinois are better for shows not for work in the field...

  • lol actually the reason most officers use the malinois is cuz they hav less health problems. breeders havent been 2 responsible wit german shepherds, and its hard 2 get a good one now, so they take the lesser known malinois

  • well..I know for a fact that most of the British police force do NOT use Malinois. theyre not a common breed here, and there are alot o stupid people thinking that the only clever dogs are alsations and collies.

I dont know who you were talking to.. but my uncle is a police officer, and all of his dog handlers would prefer a dobie.. theyre cleverer that Als, and Mals, which means theyre less likely to attack a stranger. UNlike a dog with high prey drive, which could.

  • i live in USA so things r different. but actually in the USA we dont go after local dogs b/c of the bad breeders who are breeding GSDs who tend to have hip problems.

we have our dogs imported from places like the czech republic, germany, etc. we do occasionally get a GSD, but the majority of time we end up wit malinois.

we look 4 dogs with the highest prey drive b/c these make the best protection dogs. i luv dobies as well, but i dont think any 1 breed is the best. they r all individuals 2 me

  • we have most of our GSDs 'specially' bred, however, most still tend to have hip problems. In the news last year, we recieved a lot of GSDs from Germany, and the force had to learn German!

And..I agree with you for individual dogs. I dont think its really got anything, totally, to do with breeds, but the GSDs have proven themselves efficient police dogs, and the british police force doesnt have enough money to afford the cleverer 'varieties'.

I would love to be a dog handler.

  • yes, i've heard of that, nd i think in a way it can b kind of good because some handlers have problems with the dogs confusin words.

i.e.: the dogs attack command is 'go'. the handler says,'no' and the dog thinks he says go! u can imagine the problems that wud cause lol.

what do u mean by varieties? like the crossbreeds? i have heard of some PP dogs that were GSD/Malinois crosses.

i would like 2 become a PP dog trainer.

  • well.. the british police force arent exactly the creme de la creme of the clever.

a malinois looks like a GSD to them (but fancier) so they assume theyre the same breed, but a different type.

Its hard to explain..but.. if you think of it like varities of foxhounds..then you might get it.

haha yes.. I like that ;)

  • well they are completely wrong

the malinois is related to i think its 3 or 4 different dog breeds which are all under the title of Belgian Shepherd Dog.

kinda like how ppl say Pit Bull when really that isn't one particular breed but a general term for dogs resembling a certain look
