  • fucking sickkkkkk

  • thumbs up if u think will it blend jokes are fucking retarded.. and way over used?!

  • Nice video.......

  • AAAahhhhhh... SO... what am I looking @ here?

  • I'd like to see someone try and steal that.

  • 3D

  • it is concrete with HOLES in it, do it with a solid piece of concrete and come back.

  • @urbex2007 Concrete doesn't produce light. Also soup can be hot, watch out.

  • This would be a bitch for Geek Squad when they come & try to hang 400 pounds of 80-inch HD concrete TV on your wall.

  • "Innovation Lab is an international knowledge centre for new technology,"

according to their website. Looks like a bunch of rhetoric and vaporware.

  • Hey all, remember, this film is over 4 years old, it was amazing at that time...

  • I'll just encase my monitor in a concrete block... then that will be the first HD display made of concrete.

  • i found a replacement for my silly plastic tv so iv decided to blend the old one, lets hope i dont mix tthem up :D

  • its useless ,its made from Led-s , ok in concreate , but what if i put my tv in concrete its made from concrete ? No it isnt , its stupidness , what if an Led fails to work ? how do u change it ? :-S ...

  • lol

  • nice job uh

  • HDTV . . . . 'BC' Style

  • where's Fred Flinstone! Barney!!!!! Look what I bought today, Wilma's gonna love it !!

  • just fibre optics..?

  • holy crap put it in a home

  • yay now we can watch tv everywhere

  • Put it in subways and tunnels you tards.

  • so.. the display isnt really concrete...

  • It is concrete, just with really small holes in. Almost unnoticable.

  • pretty good, needs a few more hundred led's to make it decent

  • flinstoneeeeeees

  • they would most likely be used as outdoor displays on buildings or in urban settings. obviously...

  • maybe cave men had these!!!!

  • GAH!!

back to the stone age :(

  • besides for aesthetics, i cant see any practical use for this innovation. can u?

  • Very energy efficient, extremely reusable, durable, aesthetically pleasing, saves printing and installation costs for large advertisements on buildings,....

  • But the true question is, Will it Blend?

  • LOL great comment.

but seriously no it will not

  • lmao

  • Concrete smoke... don't breathe this

  • haha i actually bought a blendtec

  • @diddyupenguin

    I don't think so Tim.

  • wow a concrete tv what will they thinck of next?

  • try to break this

  • Interesting question, Apotr. Remember, rebar is concrete reinforced by steel rods. Concrete on its own is brittle, but the steel bars give it strength. I wonder, as you do, if the "bars" of fiber optic give it any strength. My first inclination would be yes, but of course, I'm not a concrete expert.

  • No, rebar is the steel rod in the concrete, rebar is not concrete reinforced with steel rods. Concrete is not brittle either, it is however prone to cracking under its own weight when the ground beneath it heaves, this is why they put "rebar" into the concrete over large areas and stress cut a minimum of 30% deep into the depth of the concrete to avoid stress fractures.

  • you don't avoid cracks, you give them a place to happen where they won't be seen.

  • i wonder how much it decreases the strength of the concrete, if any.

  • The fiber optic layered concrete are actually stronger than standard concrete and somewhere of lesser strenght than iron-armored concrete.

  • The concrete are actually stronger than standard concrete but of lesser strength than iron-armored concrete.

  • NickCatal.... first

The screen consists of concrete with embedded optical fibers, arranged as pixels, capable of transmitting natural as well as artificial light.

Then when you think about it .. the whell was not really hard to conceive .. but did it change everybody's life.. i think so,

So stop saying stuff like this was easy .. i can do it .. yeah right why you didn't ??

  • it might be expansive

  • it is just a projector displayed on the back of a hollow block of concrete with a ton of holes drilled into the front of the block.

not that hard to do. really.

  • This would become huge in advertising, if only it were cost effective and practical

  • HEY! Didn't the Flinstones use that in their livingroom first? ;)

  • wow, he cheats. wow, I watched the video. Comment: my tv is heavy enough as it is. Comment #2: This video distracted me from thinking about killing myself for about less than a minute.

  • Yeah, wow, stick a bunch of fiber optics in a chunk of wood same thing, its not concrete display when theres a bunch of fibre optics imbeded in it.

  • We humans (particularly the so called "civilized" 1st world) are wasting our resources. We burn millions of unneccesary lights all night, in empty streets, walkways, shops, etc,etc,etc....

Don't get me wrong, this looks cool but I miss seeing the stars at night & now they wanna tell me that they wanna stick lights into walls!?!

I can barely contain the excitement

  • Imagine how this could light up your basement with daylight?

The fibers in the concrete can "bend and direct" the light all the way from the daylight and down in a basement.

  • not really just a product of marketing and his environment.

reminds me of the lyrics to a song "leaf - intelligent design" :

....hypnotized by city lights you should listen to the sound of silence....

  • whose stupid?

  • ok.. and what the fuck are you going to do about it?

  • oh well, its still a cool vid so i dont mind

  • This video is embedded on the website of the people who designed this display. That site was recently posted to several popular blogs, including Boingboing, so 10000+ views is not surprising. Additionally, ratings and comments come from viewers actually browsing the youtube site, not people who see embedded youtube videos on other sites.

  • lol welcome to the internet.. go outside and play :)

  • goood!!! UK n danish!

  • friggen weird
