  • ...that was Gion Kouta, wasn't it XD Aaah, it's everywhere!

  • Can you upload Geisha Girl (2006)?

  • For memoirs the story is fiction but some facts about how it was back then was true to a point based on what he learned by a geisha herself around that time. Of course she got upset with the author cause she requested her name wouldn't be mentioned by he mentioned it anyway. But still. Most of the facts are true to a point. Things have changed since that time though.

  • if i ever go to japan im gonna vist kyoto

  • wonderfullllllllllllllllllllllll :]

  • aww their lovely just like dolls i have some Geisha china dolls and i have the dvd its good im still reading the book

  • Memoirs of a Geisha is fictional work derived from some facts about the geishas day to day life

  • fiction or not i like the movie lol if i dont c the movie i will never be soinvolve with this pretty culture

  • So nice to see Umechika as a maiko. She is now a geiko. Also great to see one of my favourite geiko, Naosuzu! :D

  • What? From a maiko to a geiko?

  • geiko is geisha

  • Maiko are like apprentinces to Geiko. Its like They are still in training to become a Geiko. Geikos are more exprinced and are done with their training.

  • i want be an geisha but i wont cause im in america and kansas is boring!! but i know wat i want to be an actress

  • I'm surprised at how well this was done. Though some things should have been mentioned, it's a fair bit of info.

  • I am a Japanese, but want to meet geisha at once because I am good.

A vulgar heart seems to become fair if I meet geisha.

  • If you'd like to read factual information about geisha then I'd suggest reading anything by Liza Dalby or Lesley Downer.

  • I've read one of liza dalby's books, seems very stereotypical.

  • to start off with i've studied the geiko and their way of life for almost 1.5 years just watching the movie doesn't tell you much! If you have any other questions just ask

  • totally not true

  • Well, I thought it did. The book is written by Arthur Golden who has the facts of a great geisha her self. So I think it is a realistic book, what gives you a good view on the life of a Geisha.

  • Yeah and that great geisha sued him. (I wonder why??)

  • Memoirs of a Geisha is a very good book and all, but it is horrible on true information of Geisha.

  • true im reading it just now i cried when she was taken away from her sister

  • that lady looke like my 4th grade teacher...how dare that person say that, wild girls, son of a .......geiko are da shizzle AND THEY ARE ALL SO GORGEOUS!!

  • umechika is so cute as a maiko

  • :( it's too short

  • hmm intresting

  • Great video <3 thank you

  • The geisha featured in this video are from Kamishichiken. One of the geiko at the ozashiki is Naosuzu. She's one of my favourites.

  • How dare you say that they are ancient hooters girls?

Did you see any skin exposed besides neck and hands? No you didn't.

  • this is one of the best geisha videos on youtube

  • Looks like the kyo-odori.

  • ..? o.0

  • @claw789 no is a miyako odori, kyo odori is in autumn,

  • @aeleaonor - We're both wrong. The poster at time index 0:40 says Heisei 15 (2003), june 21, which is the Kyoto Gokagai (5 flower town) Joint Performance in mid June with all hanamachi. Glad for the correction three years later :D

  • hehe

  • grow up

  • @samthewise88 ... -_- Stupid.

  • I love this video. I think that it realy helps the Geisha and Maiko's image in the west.
