I could listen to the Mick talk baseball for days on end. He makes you feel like you don't ever want him to stop telling you stories about the game and his career. I was 7 in '61 when M&M (Mantle and Maris) had the home run duel and Maris beat the Babes' home run record. I had three "Mantle and Maris" M&M baseball cards from Topps. My prized possession. The Mick was pure magic, loved by people who hated the Yankees. You just gotta like the guy, he was so affable and cool.
I knew that Whitey Ford's nickname was "Slick" but I never knew why. I also had no idea that Casey Stengel was the one who gave it to him. It's great to hear Mickey tell the story behind it. Thanks for posting this video and your other Mickey Mantle videos. They are really great!
