I usually don't put bad comments on anybody but come on, comparing Slash to Lynch is like comparing my grandmother to Jessica Alba..I know it is usually a matter of personal taste but, in these two cases, the verdict seems obvious. George Lynch was amazing in Dokken and he´s incredible in Lynch Mob,on the other hand ,Slash was ok in GnR and repetitive and mediocre in Velvet Revolver,do the math!!

hard to compare Lynch and Slash. Very different styles of music and lead. G'n'R wasn't "metal"--more rock n roll. Slash was in the vein of Keith Richards, Lynch was more the spawn of Eddie Van Halen. Things like harmonic minor scales, tapping, false harmonics would not work with Slash's style. Luynch was far superior at these technical aspects of playing, but the looser, rock'n'roll stuff is Slash's domain.

Sykes is probably my fave but I have a few to add to your list: Vandenberg,Steve Morse(he did a bit with Kansas and not so much metal),Gary Moore(I know he goes back before the 80's) and Dave Meniketti(Y&T)

Eddie VH does not impress me,I saw them twice and both times he was so drunk and the sound was terrible.Big waste of $ and time.
