  • nice voice....

  • Very nice indeed. Very well-formed tone.

  • I have fond memories of Gail Robinson in several roles, including Lucia, Gilda, and Amina. Thanks for sending my way, AE, and thanks to PopoliDiTessalia for posting.

  • I meant to say, i saw her perform (not just heard). I was in our regular seats - 9th row center. Initially everyone was disappointed when they heard that Peters wouldn't perform (not me, i wasn't a Peters fan). But the moment Robinson took the stage, the entire theatre came alive. Everyone knew instantly it was going to be a night to remember. And it was. Absolutely electrifying!! We said to each other, "a star is born" and sure enough that was the newspaper headline the following morning.

  • i heard her perform Lucia in detroit when she went on instead of roberta peters - in her 'star is born' performance....i was only 15 years old but remember it as if it was yesterday.....everyone was 'on' that night, in support of her.....you could feel the electricity in air.... even placido domingo gave an especially memorable performance that night....it was beyond thrilling!!!!!

  • What a beautiful gift you have given us. Thanks so much. I remember well so long a Rigoletto broadcast from the Met. She had a beautiful, fresh voice, seemingly effortlessly reproduced. It was only later when she stopped singing that the story of the reumatoid arthritis came out. It was a terrible tragedy, but she reinvented herself as teacher, mentor, and friend in the Met audition programs. I remember meeting her in Atlanta at a regional event. God rest her valiant soul- Ernesto
