I've been trying to get fast but the fastest I can go 2-4bars is 84 bpm 32nd singles. Do you have any tricks to getting faster doubles and singles cuz i practice those everyday at 75-83 bpm. I dont go any faster cuz then I start srewing up which is bad

One of my favorite Mike Johnston quotes is "practice everything while you're struggling, not failing." Find the speed that its difficult for you to play, but you can still play it successfully most of the time. Hover at that speed for a few days and then start pushing up. You might be practicing at a speed that makes it difficult for your hands and feet to develop their muscle memory.

@adamtuminaro89 I increase speed when I do fast short burst of 4s or 6s or 8s. But thats only with singles. I'm not sure how I'm going to increase my double speeds. And its really hard to do different stickings at fast speeds too like RLKKLKRRLKLK some shit like that or just RLRRLRLRRLLRRLLR

hey adam i was just wondering what you tune your tom batter heads too? Like are they really tight to give you back alot of rebound or do you tune them low because i want to be able to have some rebound while having the drums sound medium to low range. Thanks

I use Evans G2s and keep them tuned pretty low. About 2 turns per lug at the most. Floor tom I keep a little higher for rebound but my rack tom is usually pretty dead.

Its close to that, but he does it a little differently, adding a third pattern and ending with a flam. The intro song is a joke, just pulled it out of an IMovie sound bank, so its not a real band.
