  • song gives me goosebumps, such an awesome song

  • LOVE this song makes me cry every time i hear it

  • Duvall equals "imatations are pale" Lane is AIC Foreever

  • Black gives way to blue, I'll remember you. This is so beautiful, Jerry said once, this song is hard for him to sing, because it almost makes him breakdown crying.

  • Wow, Layne faded out by design....such a beautiful song.

So much talent. Jerry Cantrell should be in the Rock and Roll

    Hall of Fame.

    Thank's for going on AIC.

  • see what drugs do to people it kills them but without drugs we wouldent have this music

  • My best friend died from a heroin overdose. As talented as Layne. I shed tears everytime I hear this song for both of them. I miss my friend so much.

  • @MalcolmBlisss Sorry to hear that brotha... It sucks to lose someone, especially when it's from an addiction. May they both rest in peace...

  • This is wooonderful.

  • I love how there first album is all about layne's death. great tribute aic. keep the 90's alive. keep layne in your hearts

  • Lets all bow our heads in memory for Layne Staley for just a few seconds. And remmeber how much of an amazing man he was.

  • @MrSplattycakes Why was he and what did he do that was amazing?

  • @Ekyvvsaq He was an amazing man because of who he was. Any Alice in Chains fan knows that. He was so talented and a very inspirational person. What do you mean by why was he? haha sorry I don't get it.

  • @MrSplattycakes

Agreed. Layne was amazing because he was such a success as a human being. Humble, kind, loving, and just al around beautiful, despite his flaws. It's what any other human would strive to be.

  • Beautiful song! This song is truly from the heart. Jerry's a genius! His song writing is amazing! Jerry wrote most of AIC songs with the help of Layne. R.I.P. Layne! You are truly missed! Alice in Chains is one of my all-time favorite bands!! Love you guys!

  • Incredible! Jerry loves Layne, and we all have to let Layne go -- he needs to rest in peace .. .. .. .. .. We will always Love Layne!!

  • I try to cover this song as acurate as possible...but still...something is missing. I think everytime Jerry sing this song, Layne's soul get into his guitar, and turn into this beautiful, unique sound.

  • The best from you for Layne and us !

Thankx for this wonderful and amazing song from the Heart !

  • I honestly love Jerry's voice now more than I did when he was in his 20's.

  • Damn Jerry can still sing

  • i want to download this album!! going to check out in downloadmusic .im

  • So Sad.. Another Alice In Chains Gone..

Layne Staley Passed April 20, 2002..

    Now Mike Starr.. RIP!!! wow..

"BLACK GIVES WAY TO BLUE" :(

  • seriously how could you dislike this. the man is pouring his soul out there for you to hear. even if you don't like the song itself, give it a thumbs up because this has more heart and more truth than any mainstream pop, hip-hop or rap song you will ever hear.

  • Four people must be DEAF.

  • i want the old ones to come back tjis kind of okay but seriously folk use your fuckin minds and remember dirt remember .....

alice in chains is fuckin dead as can be

  • Better than the album version

  • He would say "luv ya man~sorry~just had to~~couldn't take it anymore~didn't know it would go as far as death~~so much pain inside of me~~"

  • I love that Jerry always mentions Layne when he performs this, saying we miss you and we love you. Last year, at the end of one performace, he said "a beautiful song for a beautiful man". This just sums it all up I think...

  • Jerry Cantrell is a absolute genius.

  • song touches my heart so much....not only is it written for layne...but it helps me reflect on others in my life who went away. also i would like to add that 2 years ago i named my baby boy after layne...so this song is extra special because he dances to it...kinda erie...errie.....erry?

  • @vicksachmo There are going to be lots of "Layne"s around in the next generation thanks to the impact Layne left on us. Maybe one of them will live up to their name and follow in the footsteps - hopefully your baby boy will be the one to inspire the world!

  • Beautiful...gives me goosebumps

  • Jerry's voice is better than Duvall's..

  • Layne Down I'll Remember You

    R.I.P

  • Layne Down I'll Remember You

  • Linda amei essa musica !

    Parabens !

Deixe de lado, escuridão dá lugar a tristeza

Deixe de lado, eu me lembrarei de você

  • Me: Bye mom

Mom: Where are you off to?

Me: Out to beat up some Bieber fans

    Mom: All by urself

Me: Well, i'll be with 585 friends

    Mom: All right, be safe

  • I'm a hardcore Layne fan, but somehow I feel that these emotions here in this song are not really honest.

  • doesnt compare to the mtv unplug layne did, but still nice, duvall sings without soul (what a bummer) but at least he filled in :)

  • I cry every time I hear this song...so beautiful and emotional

  • Im forever curious what Layne would say to Jerry if he could hear this song..

  • @JoeyJoJo1185 He'd say "Bro, I wish I was there with you, you know I never wanted it to be like this, but don't be sad I'm ok now. Thanks for keeping me alive in your music, this is a fucking excellent song! I love you, I'll always be watching over you.."

Or at least, that's what I like to think :(

RIP beautiful man. Long live AIC....

  • @JoeyJoJo1185 I think someone already answered. But here is what I think. I think Layne would choke up start crying saying thank you man for this beautiful song. I want help this time I am going to beat it the drug addiction. I think he would hug Sean and Mike then Will for trying not to be Layne or a replacement. Honestly I think if he was here right now he would have gotten better honest to God I think he would have.

  • @JoeyJoJo1185 He does hear it man. All the time.

  • @JoeyJoJo1185 I think Layne would sing along...

  • @JoeyJoJo1185 that comment of yours made a tear come out of me..

  • Duvall looks too damn happy. It's probably those glasses.

  • @ADeadHeaDz LMAO

  • 4 people must have had the mute on

  • @ChaosRiddenReaper - Yep, or their heads are waaaaay too far up their asses.

  • Layne was great, but Cantrell is the mastermind behind AIC!!!! Listen to his Cantrells albums and you will understand!!!

  • This even has the old AIC feel. Its comes down to emotion.... Duvalls emotion even shines thru in his vocalson this song . Thats why Layne was so awsome, his music was pure emoton. Although I am not a huge fan of Duvall his part in this tune was perfect.

  • such a beautiful song

  • I can take this song and put it to many faces in my life, most ppl i know have never overcome addiction and lost the battle. I hope there is a heaven for the tormented. I love all you! R.I.P.

  • the 4 people who disliked are gonna die

  • @ALICEINCHAINSFREAK92 WTF?! Whats wrong with you mate? What a fucking mental thing to say. Nutter.

  • is this jerry ?

  • @Villanova1991 yup cantrell

  • wow... im so glad the crowd is dead silent, i hate when a band plays a beautiful song and the crowd is yelling and cheering, i dont mind those that sing along to it tho

  • Jerry has such an amazing voice....i love layne....but really the whole backround of the lyrics and everything were all due to how creative Jerry is.......No Jerry=No AIC!

  • William Duvall is a cool guy, and AIC is a good band. But they aren't a great band like they were back in the days of Layne.

  • @Papawowmac still better than most of the bands today. But your right layne was one of a kind.

  • @Papawowmac While i do gree with you people forget that AIC didn't go right to stardom with Layne in the band it took few years and im sure with Duvall thats what will happen. I mean yes it's AIC but for them it's like step 1 all over again it isn't the 90's it's 2010 new generation of kids

  • @italianking29 ok, they're playing my city and it cost 85 dollars for a descent seat. They are superstars already.

  • @lordkol666 You don't understand my reasoning

  • @italianking29 i know what you mean...... they have the diehard aic fans and more....but not like the 90's i agree.... stilll a great band.

  • @MrNothing43 ty bro

  • R.I.P. Layne

  • You think he misses Layne?

Id imagine they became like brothers over the years.

This one makes me think hes singing to Layne.

  • @EMicheal And you're correct. The whole album, but specially this song, is a tribute to Layne. R.I.P.

  • I didnt know this was about layne until i heard the lyrics...so freakin emotional man. i saw laynes face flashing through my head every moment of this song!

  • AIC is fucking back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @saritapfahl, yes I know. What a tribute. It just isnt Alice in Chains without him. Layne WAS Alice in Chains. What a loss.

  • Comment removed

  • @crowbarsgirl1 Layne wasn't AiC, the band was. It was a collective, not a solo project. They all contributed.

  • So incredible. I'm so glad AIC is back putting out great music! RIP Layne!

  • the ultimate tour would be with Alice and Down together.....in my opinion the two best bands out there right now. But the Blackdiamonskye tour is gonna kick some serious ass this fall!

  • I Just Worked Out That Since The album Has Come Out I Have Spent 56 Hours Listening To This Song!!! I LOVE IT!!!

  • It gives me chills listening to this song, without them showing Duvall right away. He fucking channeled Layne with the harmony.

  • AMAZING. Great tribute.

  • It sounds better than the album version. Really good!...

  • Seems like theres two ways Jerry does this...i noticed he was on the lower frets doin the D, B, A, E differently on the other video..I play it the easier way lol

  • this song shows that alice in chains still alive and still sounds like in its heyday. the alice in chains that we love

  • lay down , black gives way to blue

    LAAAAAAYNE , i remember you!

  • hey, depression sucks

  • Unbelievable. I downloaded a few songs off album today. Jerry has such an incredible voice. I can't stop replaying the song. I think it's the most touching song I've ever heard. It makes the hairs stand up on my arm everyone I listen to it

  • My heart hurts for u Jerry

  • fuckn sick

  • FUCKING AMAZING PERFORMANCE

  • Beauty in the eye of the beast.

A jewel about a fallen conrade.

  • I came myself when they were added to the Sonisphere line-up.

  • This song really touched my heart and shows how much everyone misses Layne.Thank you for keeping the flame lit Jerry!RIP LAYNE STAYLEY!

    FOREVER MISSED AND LOVED.

  • @xTheIronLungx Layne Down I'll remember you!

  • Ok, after listening to it live with William singing it, I am certain that Jerry's harmonizing with himself on the album.

  • @ComaAlpha Was that a compliment of William's amazing singing ability? Just wondering...

  • @Nettacki It wasn't a compliment or an insult. It was just a statement. Nothing more, nothing less.

  • I can't believe 14 years have gone by.

  • This is an amazing cd!!

  • What a touching tribute to Layne. The whole album has a lot of references to Layne, I can't get enough of it really, just like the old AIC.

  • Jerry is so fuckin hot!!!! I love this CD, AIC FOREVER!!!!!

  • the very first time that I heard this song in its entiret, I was shoched by the fact that it is so short. Upon reflectiion, however, Layne's life was incredibly short too/ RIP Layne/ You will never be forgotten!

  • cant wait to see them this summer

  • check out my recording of this song if you got the time! cheers people! KevC88

  • was told last night that someone I love is dying from that mother fucker called cancer and this is the first song I thought of......great song by a great band.....lay down I'll remember you.....

  • powerful song for any lost one especially drug related.

  • I wish they had played that last night.. Wonderful!

  • Jerry seems to have not fallen into the same trap of drug abuse/alcohol abuse,as some of the other members. Anyone know if this is true?

  • @Vearlsriver He did his share of drugs, they all did heroin, and hes said in a few lyrics he did coke, and im sure he was an alcoholic

  • love this. jerry and laynes vocals blended so well, its def not the same w/o layne, but the similarities are a big reason they are able to make the new aic work. and it does work and i think its a beautiful tribute to layne and his art, as well as allowing the band to carry on in making meaningful, true, emotion filled music. happy thoughts and positivity!!

  • Seeing them this sunday!

  • haha sawl them saturday in Upper Darby, They still rock! \m/

  • great song! great singer!

  • GOING TO SEE THEM TONIGHT!

  • Most beautiful song i've ever heard. It's pure emotion. We miss you Layne, you'll always be a legand!

  • JERRY, JERRY!

  • ok..I dont know who is calling who a dumbass.. but IF directed towards me..you can kiss mine! To all of you who seem to have a problem with what i write, you dont like it, dont read it. I Love Alice in Chains (aka..AIC) and the information I gave came from news reports!! I have the cd's I know that Cantrell is a major part of lead. The damn girl asked a question about who took over Lead Vocals and I answered the damn thing! Get over it!

  • you're a dumbass if you think cantrell has been, is, or ever will be BACKUP for alice in chains.

  • c'mon people...its Alice In Chains...not AIC! If they wanted to be called that they would've named the band AIC! You don't say ILY when you say I Love You to someone do you...hell no! Give 'em that much credit if you are a TRUE fan!

  • Jerry himself calls the band Alice. Everyone goes for the short form so as to get to the point, you know, the content. AIC 4ever. Anyway fans gets it and might rather discuss the music than type.

  • @BloodOfHeroes8

are you retarded? nothing personal, but if thats the case why do both of my sun logo tshirts have the letters "AIC" in the middle of the sun?

  • crowbarsgirl1, Jerry isn't backup vocals.. William is. If you listen to the album, Jerry sings more than DuVall... And they are both guitar players in it.

  • @SleepingInTheFire... You are right! I do notice that Cantrell has alot more lead than Duvall does on this CD. Either way,amazing..but I have to add...AIC just isnt AIC without Layne. Layne WAS... AIC. (wink, wink JW)

  • Time and tragedy tend to change a person and an artist's art. We have the old AIC disks. Now lets let serious artists grow up and help us do the same. Layne didn't get to grow up, so we'll never know. Maybe people would prefer the AC/DC approach, just replace the dead guy with a carbon copy, keep pumping out the same product. Really 60 year old dudes singin about their balls. Now that is sad.

  • mmmmmmmmmmm.....now that was good...

  • FODA!!!!!!!

  • duvall is the lead singer of the band. Cantrell is lead guitar with backup vocals. But this particular song was sung by Cantrell, whom I might add did an amazing job! and of course he did this for Layne. again..just simply amazing.

  • @crowbarsgirl1 actually, theyve realigned it, theyre both co-vocals, and if you listen to the new album, Jerrys vocals are a lot more prominent on most of the tracks

  • can sumbody please tell me who the lead singer is now?

cuz everybody n everything is sayin DuVall is but Cantrell sings everything so wtf?

  • my boyfriend got me this cd.. its the best. I love this song. So emotional. vocals are awesome!

  • He's a good guy!

  • Comment removed

  • this is the best song on the album .. RIP layne

  • I love you Jerry Cantrell. Best comeback album ever. I can hardly wait to see you in Oakland on Thursday

  • sad

  • This guy has a great voice just went and saw then In Seattle last night and it was the best concert I've ever been too

  • Saw them in Seattle as well, and yeah best concert i have been to.

  • My favorite song on the whole record. The entire album is awesome, but this song is my personal favorite.

  • One of the best AIC songs...EVER

  • just to add i didn't spell their name correctly and I know Lane is dead just for anyone who wants to complain

  • beautiful man alice and chaines were always so awsome unpluged

  • fucking heartbreaking, i love this guys voice, def more less distinctive than laynes, but i think i like it more, stand alone anyway, an amazing live performance these guys put on

  • THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • they are close stiudio is done in acoustic though

  • I don't have the album yet and I have never heard it. I'm going to buy it though....is the Studio version acoustic?

  • yes it is

  • some acoustic some electric

  • awesome screen name!!!!

  • The studio version features Elton John playing piano (no vocals) over the track, and is equally awesome.

    Really emotional stuff.

  • @lroosemusic Elton John? really, how come I wonder?

  • Elton is an amazing collaborator, and I think the piano captures the wistful tone that Jerry wanted for the track.

If you're gonna have someone play the piano on your track it might as well be the best.

  • get em jerry

  • @TFP2001 totally man! It's more raw, I think that's why. It is for me, anyway. More emotion.

  • *goosebumps* :D

  • AIC always rocks acousticly. Even when Layne was doped up, they still kicked ass. I miss Layne though.

  • Comment removed

  • "Grunge" doesn't exist, it's a silly term. Do Alice in Chains sound anything like The Melvins? Did Nirvana sound like Pearl Jam? Soundgarden like Screaming Trees? Alice in Chains a rock band. And one of the best, at that.

  • Go buy, and actually listen to their new album. It sounds like their old stuff :P

  • @NuclearGuru350 Well said my friend, well said.

All of these "Brand" names were created not by musicians themselves but from the rotten core of the music Industry.

    Long Live Layne. RIP

  • i never thought it was possible for an alice tune to make me cry but this one does....

  • @caressxofxsteel

Emotions run heavy in this one my friend

  • this is a tribute to Layne Staley

    Silencing all tomorrows

    Forcing a goodbye...

  • wow...jerry never ceases to amaze me what an amazing man...r.i.p. layne :'(

  • this song brings me to tears

  • Me as well sullyngirl.

  • Beautiful song. SO happy Alice in Chains(and now Soundgarden) are back. Maybe next we can get all this pop/dance/hiphop shit off the radio.
