  • I loved this.

Just read a news story saying that old TV is being bounced back from space and they are recovering old Dr Who. So maybe one day.

  • I remember :-) .. Freddie, Oliver the Clock, the Hungry Drains.. :-)

  • The entire album is available for download!

Read the description on this video: bit.ly [forward slash] mhixD0

It's the earlier version of the album with just Freddie and the Dreamers, but is still a great nostalgic listen!

  • O M G carnt believe this is on youtube, used to love this as a kid ,never seen it since, mut be 45 years ago

  • Freddy and the hungy drains......take the water to the mains......Bless.....RIP FREDDY.

  • @urchin32 Ha, ha!! The HUNGRY DRAINS!! The only thing I remember from the show was their song. Something like "Four hungry drains, We're the hungry hungry drains." I thought It was a strange dream until i saw that photo and it all came back.

  • @egapnala65 , Me too.....It was these hungry drains take the water to the mains.......memories eh?

  • @urchin32 Shame no footage apparently survived. I would love to hear that song again.

  • @egapnala65 Sadly, this was shown in the era when both BBC and ITV embarked on mass wipings of recorded telly programmes mainly due to the prohibitive cost (at the time) of videotape. Sad that so many gems of programmes, and particularly kids programmes, from the 60s and early part of the 70s are lost forever as this really was the golden age of kids telly.

  • A recent copy was sold on Amazon for #300.00 however it would seem avid collectors are prepared to pay a great deal more for this rare gem.

I will place a photo of the album cover and its reverse soon and get the album onto my hardrive so i can put some of it up on here for all to enjoy

  • Anyone got a video featuring 'The Hungery Drains?' please.

  • Dont underestimate the Undercog!!

  • Yes I have the original studio recording which is quite different from the television series version, the studio version contains such gems as "Day By Day""Gimme That Ding""How'd You Do""Harry The Heater" have checked on EBay and no copies available,it would seem this version is almost impossible to obtain anymore,am going to have independantly priced as have been told I am holding on to a rare classic, but yes this album is a classic

  • @rhysash1 I've got the LP and have recorded it to two MP3 files, editing out a couple of jumps along the way so it sounds seamless. I didn't realise there were two versions of it though.

  • @rhysash1

hi i also have this album. listened to it all the time.

  • I've just got Oliver in the Overworld transferred onto CD - so good!!

  • WOW, I have been trying to find this for years. My son loved it when he was small, and now he would love it for his son, my grandson. Is there anyway I could perhaps buy a copy on CD.?? Dont want a collectors item, just the music . I cant get it anywhere !

  • @chrissiezzr

I dont think that you will get this anywhere as many people have emailed me wanting a copy of my album, but I still cant record it as have no record player these days!

  • @neppirasrj

Many thanks for your reply. What a shame! We have a record player, but not the record. I reckon there must be loads of people who would like this album because of memories. Anyway, I will keep looking. best regards Chris

  • I have both of these albums but unfortunatley cannot record them at the moment as I do not have a record player and am working on this problem!!

  • Haven't heard this for almost 40 years - this brings back happy memories of children's tv!

  • remember the undercog dont underestimate the under under cog

  • Does anyone remember an advert that Freedie was on circa 1970 singing something like "Chippedos, but another pack for me... I've seen them on TV, I haven't had a pack since lunchtime and now its half past three... !

  • I actually appeared in the audience for two series as our school was near the old Southern TV studios in Southampton. Thanks for posting this.

  • Yes I remember it. Chip chip chip chippetos, buy anpther bag for me. Chip chip chip chippetos, Ive seen them on TV. I haven't had a nibble since lunch time and now it's half past three. So, chip chip chip chippetos buy another bag for me.

  • Hi I am desperately looking for this album to buy or transfer to disc. It is the one with a white front and the characters are drawn with the boiler crying. Its my sisters 40th and I so want to surprise her with this, can anyone help, Cat

  • I still have this album. Freddie was my favourite as a kid! :-))

  • this was fully terrific show !!! always on ABC T.V IN Australia in the 70's .

    i never missed it .

i have spent thousands of hours trying to find this show on video/dvd

    the hungry drains

    the clockwork king

I Want to go to the overworld !!!!!!

  • Oliver in the Overworld was part of the "Little Big Time" show in the early 70's.

All I can remember from it was the opening song and a scary character called "The Mighty Dictaphone". Mind you, the mind plays tricks on you once you are past 50, so I could be wrong.

  • I don't use my mighty dictaphone: I just press the keys with my fingers like everyone else...

  • No more jollity or I will be bereft of any ribs!

  • awesome!
