I, though, would like to implore those of you are dead set against Marian to think again. The condition of Nottingham and thereby locksley was very disheartening. People were dying for the lack of means to survive. Marian did everything for the greater good. Had it not been for her and robin's pain staking efforts, the situation would have gone into the grip of anarchy. ..

Marian only wanted to be friends with Guy and to try and bring out his good side. It's not her fault he fell in love with her.

She wasn't going to betray her heart for Guy when she was in love with Robin. It's common sense really. She needed to help Robin and the gang save England and Guy was her only means to do that so she had to use him. But at the same time she wanted to turn him good.

It's actually quite sweet of her tbh as I would have damned the man myself and left him for good.

I agree, I don't like eps 12 and 13, except for Guy killing Marian. I mean, I feel sad that he lost her by that but she actually deserved it a little. This is the second or third time Guy tells her how much he loves her and now has tricked the sheriff in order to save her, if the sheriff finds out he could be hanged. Still in ep 13 "(she)'d rather die than be with you Guy of Gisborne"?? She had just voluntarily hugged and kissed him and then she'd rather die??? Really, I don't blame Guy.

OK, watch these scenes and then the season finale and tell me that Guy wasn't right to just snap! Marian manipulated and lied to him all along. Pretending to care, pretending to stay, pretending to marry. She had her reasons yes, but it was blatant use of him. Add those to Guy's temper and breaking of his heart and, yes, Marian had it coming.

I think Marian really did care about him, and that she truly believed he had a better side. I always see it as her trying to draw that out, trying to find a way that someone else can make him happy.

Care? Possibly. But there's a difference between care and love and when someone kisses you and says they'll marry you, then you think they love you! Marian played with Guy's feelings, leaving innuendos, while in reality she did all this for Robin! What Guy says here from 04:00 to 05:08 is the truth and Marian is still lying to save her life! She didn't stay in Nottingham for him, she stayed for the people, and there's nothing to have because she's with Robin!

In order to serve her own purposes, she used him and his feelings towards her. Yes, she had a good reason, the good of England in mind, but that does not make the manipulated and betrayed man feel any better! And Guy is right, she never once considered how he was feeling, what he was thinking. On the contrary, once his back was turned, she was smirking "hehehe, how the fool believed me!". Wrong and dangerous thing to do.

Just to be sure, I watched the episode where Nottingham was threatened and I was right, Marian didn't care about Guy and she's lying to her teeth, that day she couldn't leave Nottingham anyway unless she married Guy which she didn't! She's lying and sweet-talking to him to save her life! She's deceiving and using him. And yet in the end, Guy still saves her life. Who is the honest person between them, eh?

Guy really couldn't suspect her, until he unmasked her, suddendly understanding tht everything she said to him, every single word, was just a lie. Her behaviour is so dispecable. I agree! She's a good, strong character, but where Guy is concerned she is a Machiavellian manipulator. This is a GREAT leadup to the finale, which I have problems with - NOT because they killed her, but that the writers rendered the character utterly stupid to do it. Having spent 25 eps. twisting Guy around her finger, do they really think she'd tell him the truth at a crucial time? With a wounded King at her back? Emotionally destroy a killer & smile when she only has to delay him? Please!

I think she acted as she did for two reasons- to save her and many other people's lives, and because, deep down she felt he had a good side. That good side was just buried with the years of hate and anger Guy probably had endured. Yes, she had minipulated him. Yes, she had lied on countless occasions, but I think it was for Guy's and the people's benefit. She shouldn't have said those things at the end of the series, when he killed her. I think she'd care about him too much to say them.

I agree with you. I do not think Marian is any kind of a witchy woman just because she was not in love with Guy.

I am not blind to the fact that Guy is a murderous and unstable man, but the fact still holds that there is another side to him. It does not excuse what he has done, but it does provide a dichotomy to his character and it makes him fascinating (to me at least) as a human being in general. Not all women are as shallow as you describe. Don't stereotype in a argument, it weakens it.

He could not free himself from the Sheriff's coils to do her bidding - which was to kill the Sheriff and save the king. She taunted him cruelly and broke his heart whilst he was advancing on the king with a huge sword. Totally crushed, he killed her with it. A classic "crime passionelle." Lucy has signed and it's not over 'til the fat lady sings. The dance goes on!
