Thanks for posting this. I enjoyed hearing this instrument. I know that the town you mention is in Cornwall. Could you let us in on where the organ is located and who the builder was and when?
Hello sorry for late reply, the place is called "Porthleven" it was built by"Forster & Andrews of Hull 1899,it really is a splendid instrument to play Thanks !
It sounds spot on to me but its very British tuning, kind of as precise as it can be without being clinical. I love the deeply beating contrast between the salicional and the celeste rank but its VERY deep indeed by international standards imo. Even Cliquot didn't push it that deep!
Keep practicing! You've nearly got it! Excellent reading!

Not bad for a first play. Brave to record it and open himself up to armchair critics. Fabulous piece of music.

Howells has to be one of the greatest composers of the 20th century. Pity he's not better known.

Agreed. His music is absolutely divine be it choral, or organ. Hymnus Paradisi is pure heaven.

in the cathedral music world, howells is one of the best known composers...

@irishmaestro - indeed so, greatly underrated. Actually, he was a cousin of my great-grandmother, so I am somewhat biased...

Agreed, probably one of the loveliest preludes ever written.
Not a bad first reading, but somebody needs to tune that organ!

Choir boy from Hell? I'm sure you looked angelic in your cassock, surplus and ruff.
