  • ANYBODY in RECOVERY, check out my ebook :) /watch?v=wocD6tEXIeo

  • Also, the Kindle makes it easy for the Government to track what you read, when do you read, how fast do you read, which passages are most interesting for you, and can rifle through your documents. All the time. Wherever you go. Lol jk. Paranoia I know, but you never know. The Government never spies on its citizens. At least that's for sure.

  • A: EVERYTHING blends!

  • old version of kindle

  • Would you like to win a new Kindle Fire? Check this out

    facebook dot com/whatisthenewkindle

  • this must be their first kindle

  • ever heard of kindle fire?

  • I wrote a book for the kindle. :)

    Check it out!!

    'A Compilation of Poetry'

  • hmm okay it's better than having a big newspaper but why should it substitute a book? a book is often not heavy or big...

  • great! time for us to buy one.

  • Ya en España en mercadolibre.zurired.es

  • NO! Stay with books my brothers!

  • so glad they changed the design for the new ones.

  • see<<<< .youtube.com/watch?v=nPYYkHOyfEQ

  • Meh. I'm getting the Kindle Touch ;-D

  • really wants to get a kindle but is worried everything is getting too technical, what happened to good old fashioned books, the getting lost in a story, not being able put the book down, the smell of the book, the feel etc with a kindle you dont get that you just get sweaty palms :S

  • @TheYummymummyful For a student, books can get heavy in your bag

  • @TheYummymummyful I agree that books are preferable in generable because they are generally a more absorbing experience. However, I have been using the Kindle a lot recently and have found myself just as engrossed in novels. My favourite thing about it - apart from the amazing screen - is the slight delay in turning a page. It really adds to the feeling that you are reading a book, just unencumbered by the heaviness of paper and material. The platform is irrelevant. What matters is the words.

  • @CiaranDavidAinsworth Very well said. Technology marches on. The way we do things like reading are becoming all but obsolete.

But that doesn't mean we have to abandon them. Embrace the old and new I say. Don't stick to just one or the other.

  • the guy is hot

  • Can I get one that smells like mildew?

  • I was planning to get a kindle, but I like the color. Touch screens get dirty quick and I don't want the glare so a Nook Color is out of the question All my friends & family got Kindles for Christmas. Technology changes every day. We need a color, non-glare, non-touch reader. I have a PC and a laptop, but want a reader for travel and sitting outside. I like magazines and clothes/furniture catalogs. I'm weighting the pros & cons of Kindle vs. color.

  • @Savannah2751 use windex to clean it, lol

  • @Savannah2751 why do you need color? books don't have color........ and i highly doubt people read magazines on the regular kindle since it's so small. Unless you have kindle dx, i guess you could say we could use color but not many people mind or need it

  • WIN A $25 KINDLE GIFTCARD! See "The Fiction of J. Richard Singleton" on Facebook for details!

  • If you do get a Kindle please get a cover for it! I scratched mine in the first week without one :(

  • who reads books

  • @FaBJeSRE2 evolved ones.

  • @FaBJeSRE2 Clearly, those who don't have bad grammar.

  • @FaBJeSRE2 the guys who gave you this technology

  • He looks bored as fuck.

  • i have an iphone4 and read tons of books on it. i wouldnt buy a seperate device just for this. The easy on the eyes screen is a gimmick compared to the retina display on the iphone4.

  • Kindles are great but make sure you have a cover or skin to protect your investment, they even make some splash proof!!!

There are some really cool ones here!

    astore.amazon.com/kindleskins0c-20

  • Can you read graphic novels? Or porno magazines? xD

  • Not worth it. You have to buy insurance for sure, which is at least $30 a year to cover theft or if it breaks, and most electronics break or stop working eventually. Nobody i know carries around 100 books, usually only 1. There's no point in paying so much money for this. There's just something nostalgic and beautiful about a traditional book that's comforting. You cant really lend out a kindle without lending out your whole library, or see all your books on a bookshelf. :(

  • @cocojenise I agree. I have this beautiful antique bookshelf in my apartment and everytime I see a space filled with a new book, I get a little excited to see my collection coming to fruition.

  • @cocojenise Ok Let's discuss some of your points here in more detail shall we. I was a hard convert to the Kindle originally myself opting for the more traditional paper book. However I soon began to realize that all the digital conversions I had made thus far had been an improvement. I wouldn't want to go back to say cassettes or analog or SD TV would I? No, I would not. So then why was I being so dead set against the Kindle. To that I could find only the answer of sentiment.

  • I loved traditional books and had a large library of them. But it was equally true that I still had my CD's despite my large MP3 collection. In other words one new type of media doesn't mean you have to start from scratch. So I bought a Kindle, for 139.00 which I am sorry is not "a lot" of money. And I know lots of people who travel and have their Kindle for that, it is better than carrying 4 or 5 books. Who said it had to be 100 to be more convenient. I have over 200 however on mine.

  • @cocojenise I go through alot of books and books are quite expensive 30 dollar a piece when I can just download e books for free plus pdf documents with alot of useful text, I do prefer books but kindle is a cheaper alternative

  • Whats the name of this guy?

  • Check out my new book featuring college frat humor, sex-starved spring break vacationers looking for a good time, and an unlikely protagonist who gets embroiled in the seedier side of things of Cancun's dark underworld--That He Did Too: Desperate Writer (Episode One)

  • Because you just couldn't get a laptop or something.

  • @Bastiest

Because laptops can be carried around with you in one hand.

  • ahhhhhhh

i was thinking in this idea and want to make it

  • If you buy a Kindle make sure to get a protective cover

literally hundreds here! Even splash proof

    astore.amazon.com/kindleskins0c-20

  • Amazon releases cheaper ad-supported Kindle. For details, go to Facebook and search "ereader" to access the ereader community page for the latest news and offers.

  • douchebags sitting at starbucks pretending they're typing the script for the next blockbuster.

  • @trackmack1 to tell you that y is indeed spelled w-h-y. That's w h y jackass.

  • This device looks awesome. I think "Teenage Vigilante" will be my first ebook purchase.

  • i cant wait til i get mine!! and wow its evolved like hell...

  • Why in the hell would I buy anything on the kindle, when I can get it for one tenth the price at barnes and noble, on the nook

  • @emkcus1 Because the nooks battery sucks and is difficult to read, plus no free 3g, only WiFi.

  • @tdeveson

the kindle: I wireless reader that is made to be just that. No sun glare, longer battery life, and 3G. Also, no back light so you can read it for long periods of time without getting eye strain. looks like a printed page

the nook: a back lit piece of crap with low battery life, and horrible son glare. Creates horrible eye strain, and is bad for your nervous system to read at night. Not really a wireless reader, and shouldn't even be marketed as one. More like a cheap tablet.

  • 1:33-1:36

"Use whatever works for you, big or small"

    That's what she said! hahaha

  • The kindle: A bumpy peace of s@%# with a peace of s&*($# stained glass that is scarier than Barbra Streisand.

    The Nook: God's universal remote.

  • Great review, thank you.

  • I put together a store dedicated to Kindle only. I was able to find some AWESOME sleeves & skins. Black & White zebra striped skin too! SOOO cute! Check it out. Free shipping availalbe.

  • But, what are the unique features? NOOK looks better, Android has more options, so I think , KINDLE SUCKS

  • @georgehalo123 The Nook may look better then THIS model, but this is from three years ago. The newest model is immensely better looking.

  • Amazon Kindle cheats its publishers, and NOOK at Barnes and Noble is far better and does far more, and is cheaper, than Kindle

  • Kindle sucks, Amazon sucks. They took off books by Thomas Wainwright, that deal with incest, which is available on Barnes and Noble's NOOK, but NOT Amazon Kindle

  • Kindle Sucks. Amazon sucks. They took off the books by Thomas Wainwright about incest. But, they allow and promote other books that deal with scat, necrophilia, etc.

  • @georgehalo123 That sucks. I hate censorship...

  • I debated giving away my Kindle after receiving an iPad for Christmas yet I love the Kindle as it has no glare, is lighter, and reads and feels more like a book or magazine. Thanks for the reminder of why I heart my Kindle!

  • new releases...now thats what i like.

  • I'm taking Spanish class, so I'm gonna try to promote the Kindle in Spanish.

  • @PizzaNinja313 Hey that was a great promo hahaha .. im brazilian by the way and i speak portuguese , spanish and english too

    boa sorte aprendendo espanhol =D

  • I got the Kindle for Christmas this year, and it's already paid for itself in how many free books I've downloaded. Haven't spent a penny. :)

  • @exposed97 got both. one thing i don't have is a DRM-ridden piece of fascist-ware

  • @exposed97 simply respond to one point i've raised about the kindle. stop reacting like a religious idiot and actually respond to the points. everyone can see you're wrong and it's just getting embarrassing now. i'm giving you an opportunity to salvage what's left of yourself.

  • @exposed97 that was exposed97's comment. he realized he's much dumber than me and he just proved it by assuming i have an ipad. i don't own any apple products except one ipod which was bought for me. i use useful devices child.

nice try trying to cover up your stupidity but i pasted your comment here for all to see :)

*revels in the joy of being one of the smartest people alive*

  • @sharpnova2 again your missing the point, you're soo puffed up with that ipad you fail to see that not everybody wants to own a secondary laptop that you 'finger around'. I mean like Windows for instance. People who wants windows just for word documents and stuff has their choice of Windows Vista Home Basic, and for media, Windows Vista Home Premium, for business, Windows Vista Business, and for all Windows Vista Ultimate... ipad is compared to Vista Ultimate and nobody wants to get 'everything'

  • @exposed97 wrong. i'm not trolling. you can tell yourself that in defense of your holy kindle if you need to but it won't make it true.

i'm pointing out critical flaws in the kindle. i get that you hate that.

why would i go to barnes and nobles? why not use a reader that lets me just load pdf's, txt's, or doc's of my own? and it's a file management system so i don't have to worry about amazon taking my stuff away after i already own it.

    nah. only idiots use kindles.

  • @exposed97 you didn't tell me anything i didn't already know. and nothing you said had anything to do with my comment. maybe you need to think before typing, kid.

maybe you're too illiterate to even know what DRM is. or to be aware of amazon's decisions to withdraw books that they deem inappropriate.

either way, your opinion is born of ignorance so your opinion doesn't mean crap.

  • @exposed97 then there are people like you. tiny brained pseudo-intellectuals who don't see how pointless and stupid the kindle is.

who wants to buy a device to read books that can be taken away when the store that sold them changes its mind about what it considers suitable for reading?

who wants to deal with DRM?

if this was a device that simply let you read ebooks that you had full ownership of (like owning a book) then it'd serve a purpose.

as it is now, only idiots like you see a point.

  • this is stupid for 140 bucks i could do the same thinhg in a library for free

  • you get some free books on here

  • Do you have to buy all the books? or do you can put your books and pdfs of your laptop using via usb?

  • type this in on amazon: B004FPYXWW . Its the hottest ebook , if you like sexy women get this!!!

  • T.T yall r really killing my kindle hype

  • check out "kindle krack"

  • I have a kindle DX for a little over a year and the screen went black. I called the Anazon customer service but to no avail. The support person was not nice and did not offer anything constructive and suggested that I buy a new one.

I am VERY disappointed with the Kindle DX and their customer service. I strongly recommend you DONT BUY THE KINDLE

  • @ACG6306001 If the warranty is only one year long, then unfortunately you have no recourse.

That said, I've heard Amazon's customer service is quite swell. Maybe you got unlucky?

  • @Suitecake you know what happens when i drop a book? nothing at all. you know what happens when you drop a kindle. drop it and find out. older then a year you stuck buying a new for for a few hundred dollars.

  • @jcn35 Kindles are $139. Not a few hundred.

Pretty much everything that's electronic breaks if you drop it. That isn't surprising.

If you don't think it's worth the price, then don't fucking buy one.

  • @Suitecake Don't worry I didn't buy one and I wont. plus there are other products out there that are better then the kindle for electronic reading.

  • @jcn35 Good on ya

I, for one, after extensive research into the other devices in the market, will be purchasing a Kindle.

  • @Suitecake or you could still just buy a book and be done with it.

  • @jcn35 this is the 1st gen kindle

  • @jcn35 Books take up space. The Kindle...doesn't.

I'm buying a Kindle solely to read and annotate texts from Project Gutenberg, which is to say, I won't be purchasing a single e-book.

Buying texts of Kant or Nietzsche in the original german, for example, can get rather expensive. The Kindle will essentially pay for itself after, I expect, a good year of study.

  • BUY KENDLE HERE watch?v=Fo70scy41Z8

  • @JamesScilz FAIL U SPELLED IT WRONG

  • these things are disgusting.

  • r these books free?

  • I just got the 3G wifi one. I love it , but it would have been a million times better if they put a trackball on it. Moving that pointer drives me crazy. Why wouldnt they do that? Even the cheapest cellphones have trackballs. Just to get to a word you have to click a million times.

  • Who reads anymore?

  • @Marshallnd Sadly, only some. But from those who do often come those who change the world.

  • @KrfNYC2 Taken from a book youve read once? Your such a revolutionary.

  • @Marshallnd No it's not from a book. But if you honestly think about it, you may believe it to be true. I mean Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr., Albert Einstein, William Shakespeare, Nelson Mandela etc...I would have a hard time imaginging that these people didn't read.

  • @KrfNYC2 ghandi was poor and couldnt afford books, MLK was black and obviously couldnt read, albert einstein didnt fill his mind with garbage - he didnt even memorize his own phone # (when was he gonna call himself), Books were made of shakespeares PLAYS, nelson mandela was also, black. now you think the least they could do was make these more appealing and not look like a black/grey computer bios with more words.... amiright?

  • @Marshallnd Are you serious?

  • @KrfNYC2 Yep. When are you going to put to use what youve learned from reading? and i dont mean instructions like school math books or model instructions er whatever, i mean that good, solid 500+ page fantasy book about Blue people fighting opression in a galaxy far far away, what are you learning to change the world??? Are you learning how to tell people what they want to hear so they can appoint you democratic solar system president one day?

  • @Marshallnd Well novels can contain commentaries on society and politics. Theories by people like Gandhi can help people to think in different, enlightened and healthy ways. But back to novels, even if they don't contain comentary, like music, they can bring people pleasure...happiness, and that is what we are all after...right?

  • @KrfNYC2 Now back to the real world and the origional question. What are you going to change from reading books.

  • @Marshallnd For example, I'm reading "Non-Violent Reistence" by Gandhi, it helps me to think differently and change my conduct and act in a more healthy way towards others, thus formulating my own beliefs. And, like I sad before, novels can bring people joy, and happy people create a happier world.

  • @KrfNYC2 Words chosen very carefully i see... now lets see where that gets you in New York. btw, anybody who used the hunk of piece of shit above should probably use it as kindling.

  • @Marshallnd I disagree. Peace and love...always.

  • @KrfNYC2 I'm so sure.

  • @Marshallnd Peace.

  • Hey, need some books? like james bond? 50pebooks.xp3(dot)biz /BOND.html

  • Is it only black and white, no colour? (not that it mattered that much)

  • @diaphilm um duh, most words are black.

  • It was mentioned that I can e.mail my MS word documents to then be converted so they can be read on the kindle...how about pre-existing PDF files? Can I transfer my own PDF files and view on the Kindle???

  • i got a free one

  • Does it read to u .. I see headphone Jack ..

  • I thought this was such an amazing new invention the first time I saw it, I"m a huge reader so I was drooling over it. My K2 is so much better from this first example

  • When I saw it in the store I thought it was just a sticker on the screen like paper then it changed I was like ok iv smoked a little to much. Then later I saw that it looks just like paper that's a really cool feature I'd like to get one but I don't really read books I suck at reading

  • Well it will be hard to get used not seeing old books on the shelf and the nostalgia of it, but this a great bit of kit.

  • @trackmack1 because I felt like it.

  • Yeah i want to know if its possible to get comics on the kindle? I mean i know that the ipad offers this capability but i want to keep away from apple products as much as possible.

Anyway tell me if its so.

  • they should make a version for scripts made for actors.

  • I hate reading, reading sucks.

  • can you upload ebooks you already have on this?

  • i dont see y everyone is calling this lazy

my dad is buying this for me cuz im going to india and the plc i live, theyre no book stores or libraries

so dont judge someone unless you know wats going on

  • buy my book on amazon..click on my video with the link on it !!!

  • i'd like it if people would put all this money and time into creating better and easier ways for people in 3rd world countries to get food and water and not freaking die in sted of making the already easy life easier for us here. Just sayin'

  • @cindyblokzijl

If those countries can't fend for themselves, then why is that everyone else's problem? Why should we sacrifice technological advances so we can all be "equal"?

    -

If that's the train of thought that's being taught in the Netherlands, then that's very unfortunate to say the least.

  • Comment removed

  • @MrSquitwet

What? It's called compassion to your fellow man. The majority of people buying this are using it for convenience, and to make life a tiny bit easier, when it's ridiculously easy enough as is for them. If it were possible trade off this technology to save at least one human life, it would be worth it. Not one person needs this more than someone else needs the means to survive.

    ...

It's not equality so much as kindness.

  • @MrSquitwet

It's not about countries. It's about people. When other human being are in trouble (no food, water, etc.) other human beings help. Maybe you don't agree, but that's how it works here on Earth. Saying "Why should we trade our needless convenience to help them" is like saying "humans are as primitive as the most basic animals," because that what basic animals do, sacrifice others of their kind to benefit themselves.

  • @cindyblokzijl as an African, I think that is a terrible idea. Africa is a black hole. Any funding/aid that goes into our continent simply disappears. I say capitalism drives development and not gift giving. Better idea: give everyone in Africa satellite TV. pretty soon people will be pulling themselves out of the muck and into the "american dream." out of greed.

Reality check: "here" is not the center of the universe, although it may be yours. Kindle Owner

  • I forgot how to wake it up.

  • good review

  • Do they do photos?

  • @KnightsbridgeAce only in black and white. What i heard is that its better to use an old tablet pc. Look up "using a tablet pc as an ebook reader" on youtube and watch the vid. The screen is bigger and you can look at mags and books in color.

  • the kindle is soooo much better than the iPad, who the hell chose the name iPad? besides, i wanted it to be called the iSlate, and to run osx, now its a 500 dollar ebook

  • @richardsonl91 LMFAO iSlate!!!!!! The iPad is nothing but a humongous iPhone, minus the phone

  • wat is this i dont even

  • @awesome11991 Its an electric library, technically.

  • Amazing tool, i bought one and played Need for Speed Underground on it. For gaming the hole day at the university it is very very fine.

  • its a piece of shit.....and so is the iPad....

  • I love the kindle because of the fact that I can read manga but I can't with the nook even though I want too.

  • The kindle dosen't support an open format such as epub. Amazon have also deleted books from the kindle without asking. Search new york times website for "Amazon Erases Orwell Books From Kindle"

Please consider an e-reader that supports open formats such as epub. This includes sony's, the nook and many others.

  • rofl im veiwer 160,000 ;p

  • There are better ebook-readers with e-ink that have better brighter displays with great batterys also. Just look around and you will find it...

  • Informative.

  • this is the old kindle.. GAY

  • idiot

  • I can't decide if Kindle Boy is hot or not. Also he should tuck his shirt in.
