I don't think looking at political parties as evidence of who is more or less moral makes a lot of sense. I do agree that there are terrible examples of Christ on the "Christian" right but I also see some terrible examples on the left. No one has the "moral corner" in politics. In the end, Christian spirituality is an individual choice, not a group choice.
A "liberal" Christian? Come on. You are either ARE a Christian or you're not. It doesn't matter what political spectrum you are on. We are all supposed to be ONE in the body.
You're right; KEY WORD: "supposed". I, like you, don't think Jesus would be a politician BUT you have to admit the "Christian" Right is probably the worst example of Jesus Christ; Justified war, hate, and greed for our American "dream", an entire nation deprived of Universal Healthcare, Trickle down Reaganomics. Why not a liberal? They adhere to Christian principles more so than the Christian Right anyway! Oh and by the way I was atheist/agnostic before reading "Searching for God Knows What" :-)
I certainly did not think that that his life was "more exciting" when reading blue like jazz although what i think your missing is the way he finds God in everyday life. and although his books are not considered by me to be absolute doctrine it is simply a memior, and what I can tell from his writing is this " don miller has a close relationship intimate relationship with Christ. and so do I, and unlike quoting doctire, like the pharisee's that is something that cannot be faked.
Try reading "Searching For God Knows What". I thought "Blue like Jazz" was OK but "Searching For God Knows What" is what really started me having an open mind open Christ. I never really considered myself a "Christian" until about a year after I read this book but it was this book that started it all; I used to be a hardcore nonbeliever.
To Own A Dragon is my favorite book of his. Blue Like Jazz is also great, I've read it twice, and its just good. I would say Bless this man, but he has been blessed with his gift in writing. Bless him anyways.
