Nice video mate. I served on P&O class boats including Odin in Australia in the 70s. The Oberon class were very quiet and my biggest regret was not having the camera/video then that I have now.
@JIMBO5444 g day mate my names michael fogarty and my father also served on o baots in the 70sand i have an original zippo with odin plaque on it he got it in uk i belive while odin was on loan to RAN i think will ask him now thanks.
@omega4chimp you know why because the liberals hate are military and the world would come to a end if we ever got something that big I just pray to god stephen Harper gets voted back in next year are else the Canadian armed forces future doesn't look good
I remember seeing one of these when i was a kid,, maybe 8 years old. When they ships were still quite new to the RCN. It came through lake Ontario and docked in the Welland Canal and the public was invited on board for a tour. That would have been around 1967.
Many countries still use these subs why can't we still use them are they not useful? If he hull is sound, the tracking/targeting/ and torpedoes are top notch- why ca't we use them with the UK subs?
Firstly it would cost a fortune to convert for 21st century use its much more economical to buy new subs where you get a bigger bang for your buck! Secondly they make so much noise modern sonors would pick her up nearly a hundred miles away!
Really nice video. My brother served on an American sub in the late 1960s. His boat was the Sea Leopard SS-483. He also served on another sub but I forget the name. Cutlass or something. Thsnks for posting this.

Is this the Onondaga or Okanagan.? I sailed on the Ojibwa (SS-72) in 90-91 and it still had the older front sonar dome.

Love the subs, I rather enjoyed seeing HMCS Nipigon sail past as well. My first ship way back in 1975

I always wondered how the RCN compared against the other navies that used Oberons like the RN,RAN
