What a fine palace you have there! Phonographs and cats! There are other people like me and I wonder if it's an official mental condition or we are all the same collective reincarnation of Aunt Trudy? LOL... Nice post , love the music :)
This is an Albin alright. All Hotel Pennsylvania records are Albin's band even after the gig thre was through; they kept the name as a pseudonym for recordings. As to the the Danforth sisters. You can also hear them on many Ben Selvin Columbia issues from the period (Do the New York etc...) On Harmony, this would have been 1110-H Vocal Trio w/out label credit and the trio is female usually indicates that it is the Danforth Sisters. Little is known about them even w/ Brian Rust's research.
You're a bastard. I could only wish to have the players you do, but I'm a broke mofo. All I have I have is is an old, worn-out HMV tabletop. How do you do it?! This was all in jest, I hope you know.
I've been "on the hunt" for records and machines since age 12; I used to pound the pavement every single weekend looking for this stuff. Luckily for me, some local people began helping me "find" things, sometimes great stuff, but I've had to take a great deal of dreck just to get a few nice things in the process! Just last night a neighbor handed me a stack of 12 inch classical 78 albums. ONE was worth keeping, the others, I hate to say, are trash fodder!
Jazz Baby, OOH That's good! What a great swingin' version. I couldn't help but tap my feet the whole time. Were we keeping someone up? (meow) Ha ha! YF, J.
As stated by merrihew, this was not a pseudonym, but a band led by Jack Albin and named after New York's Hotel Pennsylvania where the band had an engagement. Excellent version!
Tuxedo cat...charmingly appropriate.
