  • Tuxedo cat...charmingly appropriate.

  • Cute penguin

  • She left the stage! You don't go anywhere with this manners.

  • What a fine palace you have there! Phonographs and cats! There are other people like me and I wonder if it's an official mental condition or we are all the same collective reincarnation of Aunt Trudy? LOL... Nice post , love the music :)

  • Is that cat named CHris Yamoah? Or Crystal? (krystal)

  • Welp., THe cat really made the video. (for me at lest!) ;-)

  • Kitty doesn't seem impressed but I like it! Funny, I have a Credenza AND a cat like that!

  • This is an Albin alright. All Hotel Pennsylvania records are Albin's band even after the gig thre was through; they kept the name as a pseudonym for recordings. As to the the Danforth sisters. You can also hear them on many Ben Selvin Columbia issues from the period (Do the New York etc...) On Harmony, this would have been 1110-H Vocal Trio w/out label credit and the trio is female usually indicates that it is the Danforth Sisters. Little is known about them even w/ Brian Rust's research.

  • I'd like to see more of the machine's handsome owner.

  • Superb machine, the song really booms, even thru youtubes weak, tinny sound.

    Love the cat!

And yeah, it is a great tune indeed

  • You're a bastard. I could only wish to have the players you do, but I'm a broke mofo. All I have I have is is an old, worn-out HMV tabletop. How do you do it?! This was all in jest, I hope you know.

  • Hah! I appreciate the humor!

I've been "on the hunt" for records and machines since age 12; I used to pound the pavement every single weekend looking for this stuff. Luckily for me, some local people began helping me "find" things, sometimes great stuff, but I've had to take a great deal of dreck just to get a few nice things in the process! Just last night a neighbor handed me a stack of 12 inch classical 78 albums. ONE was worth keeping, the others, I hate to say, are trash fodder!

  • Totally awesome!

  • This is great, thanks so much!

  • Love your yawning cat!

  • What an excellant version, and such a good band from the few 78s i have seen of this band. Many thanks

  • Jazz Baby, OOH That's good! What a great swingin' version. I couldn't help but tap my feet the whole time. Were we keeping someone up? (meow) Ha ha! YF, J.

  • As stated by merrihew, this was not a pseudonym, but a band led by Jack Albin and named after New York's Hotel Pennsylvania where the band had an engagement. Excellent version!

  • Thanks! I need to get the Rust DB discogs...

  • Most welcome.

  • gosh, how many versions of this have i heard!

  • I can only think of a couple...what ones have you heard? This one is pretty cool, nonetheless!

  • Jack Albin
