  • great video on the next video can you make a list of your products for us and where we may purchase i would like to get that setting powder thanks in advance

  • I bought these for my kit and the coverage its amazing! I would have never thought that Black Opal would be on point like that. love your videos.

  • if you can remember what pigment color is that on your eyes? it looks amazing.

  • i love your eyeshade

  • i bought one yesterday, worked great...i love ur smile when ur puttin on the blush :)

  • i like this bc of the full coverage but as an oily person,it just makes me look too greasy.I was kind of sad about that.

  • @79blt Try sweeping a little cornstarch over your foundation. It works super well.

  • I've been looking for this EVERYWHERE! For MAC I use NC35. I'm debating if I'm Heavenly Honey or Truly Topaz. heellppp!

  • @LilaMontage i'm unsure if im heavenly honey or truly topaz too,I'm just going to order both

  • Hey Scandalousbeauty, how are you? I am in mac nw50, and revlon cappuccino what shade will I use in black opal? And is stick the best for oily skin? Or should I use liquid foundation? Thankks for your reply.

  • lmfao were are you from.. gotta be from up north. gotta be lol

  • y dont u stick to the beautiful bronze alone?

  • @nikii4900 I wanted to highlight and contour. Usually, I only use one, but for this tut, I used a couple. I like the effect that it gives.

  • I love foundation sticks way more then liquid foundation

  • I use medium beige

  • Right now, for undereye (and dark sides) concealer I use MAC studio finish in NC50 then highlight over it with the Select Cover up liquid concealer in NC45. But that black opal looks amazing under your eyes, really brightens up. I may have to check it out.

  • Does this foundation for rub off? I've only ever used pressed powder-my whole life. Currently using Lancolm, but wanting to try these sticks.

  • I wear a NW 43-45 and for black opal beautiful bronze is amazing for me. Id say truly topaz is kinda like nw 40-ish.... hazelnut is like nw45-ish

  • @bohomommie , Black opal is better than iman because black opal had many different thing .

  • Perfect!! Love it..totally about to use this technique

  • For some reason beautiful bronze on you looks alot darker than it is on me. Im a NC45 in Mac and i got Beautiful Bronze in Black opal and its pretty much the same conversion.. and im caramel colored (a bit darker than rihanna) but on you it looks more Red dark brown undertone.. thats wierd on me its lighter. Are you sure you did not get Hazelnut color or carob?

  • I LOVE this line.. My mother hates it she swears by people having rashes from it but it did me justice

  • in pleasantly surprised.

  • I have the Black Opal stick foundation beautiful Bronze and it really does give great coverage i also have the Blush Cranberry -- and i use them often! i have oliy sking and once u use the powder its great!

  • I have the Black Opal stick foundation beautiful Bronze and it really does give great coverage i also have the Blush Cranberry -- and i use them often!

  • i bought mine yesterday and gave it a test today and its a pretty good foundation.. i have oily skin and it was a little oily but wasnt that oily so what i am planning on doing it using a powder to keep down the oil but other than that i like it.. oh i am not really a fan of black opal but this foundation as turned me into one...

  • @trinidadianbeauty1 Oh and about your hair, I've worked in a salon for many years. You may find it helpful to straighten your roots with either a hot comb or small flat iron before adding spritz to it and using the wave iron. That way it won't get as crunchy and will blend better. Just a piece of advice.

  • @trinidadianbeauty1 I got upset because this channel has a lot of useful information and Erin puts her heart and soul into her videos. Her videos had a big impact on the success of my own career as a makeup artist. So yes, I do tend to get defensive when her videos are attacked. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

  • @trinidadianbeauty1 If that is the case then let me apologize for my rude comments also. Yes, your sister was rude so I'd suggest she get her own channel so people won't respond negatively to you or make you lose subscribers.

  • @trinidadianbeauty1 Just peeped your videos... you might want to find SOMEONE to do something to your face A.S.A.P. ! If you don't like the video don't watch it, but the nasty comments is not necessary. I could've said something about at least straightening the roots of your hair before trying to rocking that tacky weave... but that wouldn't have been nice would it? LOL!

  • @squeakynee .......i was really confused when i saw ur comment because i had never watched ur videos or anything when i finally realized what went on....i never sign out of my youtube account so anyone on you tube can comment on anything and it shows up as if i did....this happened b4 but my sister happened to have said something positive that time so i didnt mind.....i apologize for whatever she said cuz i see that she clearly upset you.....

  • @squeakynee by the way my hair was permed....i used hair spritz and my deep waver to match the hair and on camera i observed that it looks greyish and kinda hard but whatever......do u ma......im cool ....i guess i have to sign out from now on

  • how do you know what your shade is.... i mean im pretty sure u cnt try it on in the store

  • I have Sam Fine's book! :D

  • what is the equivalent of beautiful bronze in revlon colorstay? I've been using BO for a while now...i love it...but I need some variety b/c its not smudge resistant enough for me

  • The color of the foundation was too light for your skin like several shades!! you looked yellow after you applied it, Im not trying to be rude but I just think you should get a darker color so it blend in more with your natural color

  • I use Studio Sculpt spf 15 foundation-nc50 (What foundation would you recommend, and also the other items to go with it

  • Your tips where really good :)

  • Anyone know the MAC equals to Nutmeg or Beautiful Bronze from Black Opal?

  • @MSEBONYSEDC nc 50 and nutmeg are equal beautiful bronze is a half a shade darker than nc 50 not quite nw 45

  • @ladyphatkat oh ok so if i can wear beautiful bronze i can get away with nc 50. so nw 45 is darker or lighter or equal to nutmeg & b-bronze? I'm still a bit confused.

  • @MSEBONYSEDC nw 45 is alot redder than beautiful bronze and depper in color than nutmeg. I'm an nc 50 in mac and i wear nutmeg. beautifuzl bronze is too red and a tad bit dark for me even in the summer. beautiful bronze is lighter than nw 45 in mac though. So it wolud be nc 50 =nutmeg and then beautiful bronze is a half shade lighter than mac's nw45

  • @ladyphatkat thanks for clarifying more :)

  • @MSEBONYSEDC Beautiful Bronze = NC50. Nutmeg = NW45

  • @relaximdointhis Beautiful bronze is NC45 and Hazelnut is NW45

  • Your eyes are beautifully done. Do you have a tutorial for the look? Or the products used.

    Thanks!

  • thanks .

  • hello erin i just want to say thanks i normally wear mac studio tech and the black opal stick is just as good i am a NW47 and suede mocha works great for me i really dont hear anyone talk about that one. i was wodering could i use topaze as a high lighter or am i to dark.

  • @maimaimaired I am NW50 and I use truly topaz as a highlighter/concealer as well as a combination of mocha and hazelnut for the rest of my face. Good luck!

  • Yellow is not the foundation of your skin tone-, therefore, it has only made you lighter when you should stay with you natural colour-which actually has a nice shade of red in combination with a deep rich brown. The finishing product of this make up session hides your true colour- very beautiful colour. Observe the drastic difference between the skin on your arm and neck to the skin the make-up has given you.

  • @Lynnnily I used it as a highlight, for the effect. I'd use more of the red based foundations for a more natural look.

  • I just bought mine on Saturday, and I was wondering if I should've bought two colors b/c my forehead is a different shade from my cheeks/nose etc. Great video, I'll definitely be trying your technique :)

  • @pinkpeach26 Sometimes, it's essential!!!

  • very pretty!

  • Comment removed

  • Thank you I was trying to figure out which black opal color I was I am an NW45 I think I will go with your colors. Your skin is beautiful

  • @TheMzpink Thank you!

  • when you use that mac spray does it keep the makeup from coming off on your hands?

  • @MsBlackbarbie757 Not at all! lol

  • Thanks for such Great Video :-)

If I use MAC NW 45 which Black opal color should I get. Please let me know. Thanks

  • @AffiaDaBoss i use mac and black opal. i also wear nw45 in the black opal collection you won't find an exact match in one stick shade. the shades you need are hazelnut and carob. i use the two for a complete foundation look. hazelnut on the inside of my face the lighter area and carob on the outer side the darker area. it gives a nice finish when blended properly. hope that helps

  • @ShortMocha That even helped me! I used the Hazelnut on my face the other day and loved it!

  • Love the eyeshadow!

  • okay so after watching this, i went and bought the truly topaz, beautifully bronze and hazel nut, i use the trylu like you did under the eyes and on the nose, but the bronze is too red for me, i seem to need to use the hzelnut to make it less red, but after it all i feel too dark, smh its so frustrating, i love the foundation but the colors are crazy for me... what do you think i should do?

  • Loved the video. Can you please do a review/tutorial on the iman second to none stick foundation?

  • i love black opal products , i use the concealor stick, but how did you find your color? i always have a problem with that, its always too dark or too light? not like i can try it in the store

  • wre can i get the black opal sticks what stores/shops

  • Girl, I am LOVING LOVING your eye shadow, please share where you brought it from. Thanks

  • i use beautiful bronxe but in the summer time its fine in the winter i look like a umpa loompa lol thanks the video i guess i need the topaz too. have you tried the luminess air ?

  • great review of black opal...headed out to buy some now I usually use Iman in earth 2. Two questions- Which do you like better IMAN or Black Opal? What color is the Ben Nye powder you finished with???

  • @bohomommie Hmm....I love the creaminess of the Black Opal, I think it's much more pigmented. But, it gets oily, which I don't think the Iman really did. I used the Ben Nye Banana Powder.

  • @bohomommie i am having the same problem but black opal is cheaper soooooo

  • how do you stop it from transferring

  • @kily6666 : use their invisible blocking oil powder, its great for oily foundation

  • Do you have to use the powder 2 set ur foundation all of the time?? I'm a beginner and u r my complexion so I am gonna try this foundation

  • It is so frustrating because Black opal is sold in Walmart back home, but where I am now it is not sold in the Walmart stores.

  • i use beautiful bronze in the stick foundation,(same as you) and the total coverage foundation in the little jar, and nutmeg in the perfecting powder

  • black opal is the best : )

  • does Black Opal have a site or should i try like ebay or something because i have looked everywhere in wisconsin and no one seems to have it or i just cant see. plse help someone, i really wanna try it

  • @aTsBg21 : Afrocare(dot)com has it , its in uk but i think they ship everyehere

    then try black opal (dot)com

  • @nellya1 - Thanks for the heads up on where to purchase the black opal, I've never seen it here in CA. And since it's more affordable then MAC, it's all good as far as I'm concerned :)

  • I'm in wisco too. Nowhere to be found... but I would try searching online, like on Amazon. I ended up going to Illinois and finding it on accident.

  • Hello, eyes!!!! beautiful!

  • Thanks for this vid!

I'll try it and add them to my kit.

    Thanks again!!!!

  • I'm a MAC NW45/NC50, and I use the truly topaz under the eye, with beautiful bronze all over. I LOVE THIS STUFF!!!! I USE IT MORE THEN MY MAC EVEN....I freakin LOVE IT!

  • yeah, thanks to you, i went out and bought my opal foundation today, no more mac for me,i was watching your videos last night thank you so much, love your tutorials

  • great. i like how u blended the 2 colours

  • Thanks!

  • ok so you are a mac nc 50 and so am i how are you using msf in dark..let me tell you i was on a wild goose hunt for the right color. i go in and the girl tells me im medium dark so i take it home and im like mmmh! no this aint gone work i take it back and they give me deep dark. but now i see you using dark we are the same complexion. what do you think about that?

  • LOL! Wild!

  • where can i get opal imin SA

  • Oh wow...I'm not sure :-(

  • where can i get opal im in South Africa

  • I LOVE BLACK OPAL

  • you look very beautiful in this video!

  • Hmmm...I'll have to try Black Opal again

  • In a Mac foundation I m a NW 50 When I started using Black Opal the first one I bought was Hazlenut which had a red case to it Now I am using Beautiful Bronze, is not a true match but is very close, Thanks for doing the video, I love Black Opal foundation stick,

  • I like black opal but years ago when their makeup first came out I couldn't stand the taste of their lipsticks which sadly look great. Do they still taste bad and strong?

  • love black opal and i have every color! i love them since you can go from light coverage to heavy. they all seem to have more yellow tones in them. i use these sticks when i have WOC clients. i can mix colors or use them to highlight and contour if needed. thanks for doing a video!

  • your eye make up is great :)!

you are so beautiful especially in this video!

    keep up the good work!

and your smile is just gorgeous

  • For those who fall between MAC's NC42 and NC44 (i.e. me), the Black Opal stick in Heavenly Honey is a REALLY good match. Matches better than my MAC stick foundations.

  • @highlytextured What if your a NC45? What do you use in the black opal stick?

  • @SuperBlackbeauty19 you will need a truly topaz. I'll send you a vid for you to see the colours.

  • @AbiolaSful okay thanxx i never got the video tho

  • @SuperBlackbeauty19 hey you will need to go to your channel and check your inbiox!

  • @ContrastY Thank you!

  • @ContrastY Thank you!

  • Hello Erin, I am trying to find my correct shade in Black Opal and I was wondering if I sent you a picture if you could tell me where to start and what my highlight color would be?

I know it could be difficult, but I thought I would ask.

    THanks so much,

    Miriam

  • Its good that Rite Aid has them because Rite Aid let's u bring makeup back

  • looks great

  • Loved how you simply removed where you didn't want highlighter. Good tip. I went to get Mac 109 brush yesterday & they had Christmas pkgs. out. Well, I got one at $49.95 with 5 brushes, short handled ones, but good way to build collection. Pros & cons on short handles. Still don't have my 109, but was a good deal. Included: 190 Love & needed this one,212,129, 275, 227 .Wish they had a little more weight short but work. Pros & cons on long or short handles. Appreciate you!

  • Absolutely love the intro music for this clip..mind telling who/what is it?

  • Is there no way around the "ashy" look w/ talc powders...I just bought a powder that matches perfectly in natural light, but it has TALC :-( and in flash photos...it looks like I bought my make up 3 shades too light!

  • If you can, try MAC's Mineralize Skinfinish. I know it's a bit expensive but it doesn't make you look ashy.

  • mary kay just got in 6 new shades of mineral powder foundation and it works!! i've always had a bad time with finding my true color, since i'm dark skinned. matter of fact i just put a vid up about it, if u wanna check it out!

  • My good friend has mentioned black opal foundation and it looks good on her. I may have to check out their concealers and foundation. Great video!

  • Wow! You had GREAT seats at the concert! And I love Black Opals concealers.

  • girlll...ur making me want to go buy some makeup!...so addictive..u do great work!

  • hey have you ever tried NARS foundation?

  • I really do like the coverage Black Opal gives.

  • yes u made beyonce proud

  • Hi, I have been watching ur videos for a while now. I notice u love ur mac foundation but u are an oily girl. Well I really need help with my foundation pick. I will be a bride in Dec. & I am having a destination wedding so I have to be my own makeup artist, but I am having a hardtime finding a foundation that will give me that mac finish w/o me oiling up/ looking cakey. Or maybe u can suggest something I can use & set it so it won't move! I've tried everything so far. Pls help! Thanks!

  • Mary kay has great foundation for oily skin, just started using it on myself, want more info message me about it! congrats on the wedding, i've been married for 6months now and i love it! lol

  • You just make it all look so easy. Very nicely done. I may even give Black Opal a try!

  • Fabulous Erin. Beautiful Bronze works on most women of color in addition to Truly Topaz, Heavenly Honey, Carob and Hazelnut. Love 'em. Your eyes are on FIYAH HONEEEYYY!

  • how do i find my shade. the scale thing you match with your hand dont work cause my hands and face are so many shades apart.. i dont even know where to begin.

  • LUV IT.....

  • eye make up in this vid is too pretty! will try

  • I'M SO LOVING THIS LOOK

  • what's the name of the eyeshadow you used??

  • you look so gorgeous, do you have a how to on your eye makeup it is so glam

  • BEAUTIFUL! ERIN :)

  • Wow! I love it.

  • aww Erin you're so cute! lol thanks for the vids girlie!

  • Your eyes look stunning x

  • COOLLL i love it:)

  • Hi Erin, did you see the color called nutmeg?... and if so, do you think it was too light for you?

  • love the eye look, but more importantly this foundation looks great, I'm def going to get some for my kit.

  • Oh my! The dramatic eye looks really BEAUTIFUL on you! I love it. I'd like to try out this foundation, but my skin is really oily, that Studio Fix can barely control the shine :<.

  • from one makeup artist to the next...beautiful job!!!

  • I love this on you! Beautiful! I have to try this. I can't keep up with all the gorgeous foundations you review. I just got MUFE Mat Velvet and I love it. But BO shouldn't be too bad since its only like $10 at the drugstore.

  • Great tutorial. I enjoy your videos. I think you resemble a young Whitney Houston!

Mac foundations don't look good on me. I can wear some of their powders but the liquid & cream foundations just don't work for me. Black Opal Truly Topaz matches me perfectly, Beautiful Bronze is a great contour shade for me. Black Opal also makes wonderful loose powder, pressed powder, liquid foundation. Their products are great!

  • What I am realizing in my makeup journey is sthat most black women are darker in the upper forehead area and light in the middle. We need to approach foundation like this to avoid looking like a mask.

  • I agree absolutely. I am a darker skinned female and I always ignored drugstore foundation because I always figured it wouldn't work. Department store foundation is too expensive to buy two seperate shades, but this Black Opal is something I think I can give a try. Have any of you tried Illamasqua? The new British brand carried by Sephora?

  • i was the same way! i'm dark skinned and i've always had to mix 2 diff shades but i've just got into mary kay and i found my perfect shade Bronze 708!i just put a 2 vids up about foundations.

  • isn't the difference to big beetwen your neck and face? why didn't you put anything on your neck?

  • ur supposed to try out foundation by putting it on ur jawline or neck bcuz those are ur true tones.

  • Great video and tutorial. I need to check out the BO stick foundations.... I will definitely need them for my kit.

  • ....oh yes I almost forgot, I wear hazelnut.

  • You are definitely talking my language now. Black Opal is all that I use. Some SELECT walmarts carry it. I've bought a "LOT" of BO off of ebay, new and unused lot of eyeshadow, lipgloss concealer, makeup sticks, liquid makeup all for less than 20 bucks, the seller even told me to send her my preferred colors in and she'd send them to me....Checked for her recently and seems she out of commission. I don't understand MAC TERMINOLOGY, lol, so thanks for this.

  • if u r a Makeup Forever 177 what r U in MAC?

  • that is so beautiful on you!! I love the coverage you have and you don't look made up!!! kudos on that one!!!!! I've always wanted to try guess I put my big girl pants on and go do it!! lol

  • hello Erin it's me again ,i wanted to know where can i buy the ben nye powder from i also leave in new york and you did say it was 8 $ xoxoxo thanks

  • hi Erin great review ,love the look. i wanted to know do you think that this product is good for a professional photo shoot ,i have one coming up next week and am on a budget .thanks again keep up the good work .stay fabulous and god bless. your girl fabulouslystyle

  • Great review Erin!! I have never used Black Opal before!! The color looks great and appears to blend in wonderfully!! You eyes are beautiful. I will have to check out your tutorial!! Question. Do you use fix plus with all foundations? Do you reccomend using fix plus and why? Thanks for such a great review!! Hugs, Tasha :)

  • try black radience foundation i love it i use the foundation stick as a concealer and then the oil free color perfect lliquid foundation on top if it

i would love to know what u think of it

  • Hey Erin!

I wear MAC Select spf 15 foundation in NC 43 and 44. I found that B.O. "Heavenly Honey" is a great match for me. I was pleasantly surprised how well it blended in with my skin tone. I hope this helps some of your viewers!

    Take Care!

  • Thanks nikkimo75 I am NC 42-44 depending on my tan and this does help. I will have to check out BO Heavenly Honey..

  • yeah Nikkimo75 thanks! I am clueless when it comes to mac coversions and I definitely want to try a cheaper alternative. :)

  • i looove it erin!

  • luv your videos, now i must try black opal... i must thank you for the juice beauty tip--that stuff really works! You are a life saver, please keep up the good work- can't wait to see your next video!

  • I love black opal....I have been using it for a very long time and was suprised that Mr. Sam Fine uses it too!! Great video!!!

  • you beat that face out....love the look

  • wow that foundation seems great! im a NC50 as well so i'll be picking up this shade asap! thanx for the video!

  • Does this foundation work well with oily skin?

  • That is my all time favorite foundation I just can't find it to often anymore. I use beautiful bronze and it matches me perfectly. I'm so glad you did this video I dont see anyone talking about this foundation.
