They are a completely unknown band for me. Maybe because I lived in northern Europe as a teenager. But better late than never. A new world of great music from 60's and 70's has opened up for me. Many thanks to the Purple Hearts and Youtube. A tip about Scandinavian music from the 60s. You've never heard of them before: Check Up THE ZETTLERS and their versions of "Skinnie Minnie" and "Beautiful Delilah". The recordings were made 1965. Listen to the bass. Astounding.
Still got a demo of this. Well demos of all the old revival bands.(great to be on mailing lists innit hahahaha) But this was my fave at the time an it always filled the floor when played. Much better than Secret Affair. These,Chords/Killoreters, Loved them!
@WeAreTheM0ds The Purple Hearts are playing at The Underground Groove Weekender in Clacton on the 25th,26th and 27th March 2011. Full details are on the facebook groups, the purple hearts are back or underground groove promotion. There are no age restrictions as the venue it is a holiday camp. Call 07548867493 for more details.
Hi I am a young mod who is thinking of making it down to the isle of Wight this august but I would like to know if their are any age limits to this as I am only 14.
This was one of the bands that fronted the Mod revival in Britain in 1979.
The main band was "The Jam". If you have not heard their music yet then you are in for a real treat. Just search for them here and start with "going underground" or "town called malice".
Purple Hearts will be performing live at Manchester Club Academy on Saturday 17th October 2009! Tickets are priced £12 advance! Doors 7.30pm. With support from The Fast Cars!!!
I saw em all over the shop, Brixton, The Marquee, The Lyceum, The Electric Ballroom, The Regency suite in Ilford, Hastings Pier, but the best nights were Mods Monday at the now gone Bridge House in Canning Town, they were classic nights.
Me and all my Mates used to be Mods in the early 80's and used Ride our Lambrettas to loads of Mod concerts and end up Fighting with Skinheads and Punks afterwards. Anyone remember the Mod alldayers at the Wooden Bridge in Guildford?? Great times, Great Music, Great Mates. Brilliant! I wish i was 18 again.
hucknalls finest ...any one remember the battle of blue boar..we named our scooter club after the said battle...we kicked shit out of the greebos / rockers / mofo's...hence the name BLUE BOAR SCOOTER CLUB HUCKNALL NOTTINGHAM

Not bad, could've benefitted from some pre'66 Wholike production ,(more reverb),apart from the guitar, this sounds too clean.

This is terrific. You could repackage a lot of the singles of this era and sell them as "new" and they'd probably be monsters on the charts.
