Ladd's hit was dirty, but not nearly as bad as Michael Liambis' hit on Ben Fanelli. Seriously, a 16-year old almost died because of headhunting, it needs to stop right here and right now.
spearrbk: The lifetime suspension perfectly fit the crime and if you had an ounce of sense or fucking respect in your stupid fucking head you would realize this as well. Fanelli's helmet was knocked off AND broken by Liambas' elbow before he even hit the glass. It was a careless fucking play, and you're a fucking caveman pontz if you think otherwise.
@LeafsFanInOttawa Agree entirely.., I had some kid playing hockey against me, who was so close to knocking my head off. thank god I saw the elbow at the last second..
What Andrew Ladd did was 100% legal. If you watch the replay, D'Agostini was skating with all his might with his head down. Ladd was hardly moving, in front of the Chicago bench. Hit him with the shoulder, not the elbow (the elbow came up after the hit), and D'Agostini goes down. Nothing wrong with that.
Steve, this vid is excellent. I won't make an answer vid because I already have done a french vid about Habs-Leafs game result but I will make a vid to answer to your next vid.
- Leafs need more discipline in order to avoid too much penalties
- Leafs are working betterly on attack
- the defense is still weak
- I'm hoping Mr. K will come back as you said one supplementary goal would be warmly welcome each game
Yeah, that hit on D'Agostini was borderline disgusting. I mean, that was arguably worse than the Richards hit, which was pretty bad. But hey, we all know that this ends in an Andrew Ladd suspension, because that's how it works. If you're a player who sells tickets, like Richards or Pronger, then you aren't held accountable for your actions. Chris Simon's stomp on Ruutu vs Pronger's stomp on Kesler is a prime example. I'm looking forward to tonight's game though. Hopefully the Habs start Price.
Ok so I don't get to see the games here in the uk and only watch the highlights but the Leafs just seem to be running into goalies on fire at the moment, surely if they keep up this form and cut out the dumbass penalties it's only a matter of time. If these guys get on a roll then confidence is a magical thing in any sport let alone hockey.
I drank out of my lucky cup and they tied it with 35 seconds sort handed. I was jumping like a mad man. I wasn't mad though that they lost ( well just a wee bit). they deserved a better fate, but It was miller time. So the point was good this around!! Bring on les habitants!!
lmaoo noww they suck after they give away their first rounder.. FUNNY VID STEVE KEEP IT UPP MAN!! leafs gotta win tonightt cuz i hate the habs GO LEAFS GO!!
this is really becoming a nightmare season for the Leafs they play their asses off and still can't win. The Hockey gods clearly are not on the Leafs side. Maybe it has something to do with how greedy MLSE is.
Clarke MacArthur kind of did dive, I admit it. But he's actually not usually that bad. Miller was BEAST yesterday. I'm glad that he was reliable when the defense was not. Leafs put up a good effort in the third. That goal by Grabovski looked iffy, but he's too short to get his stick over the crossbar. Good try, Leafs, good try. At least they made OT, though.
i gotta give proops to leafs nation for driving down the the HSBC Arena last night. it just shows all of the NHL how good our fans really are. GO LEAFS GO !
so? make a point for yourself leafs arent making in the playoffs they have NO DEFENCE whatsoever... sorry if you guys are hoping for a miracle... youll definitely need one
also important to note that Buffalo scored first. Toronto NEEDS the first goal. They have been playing good but they still need a lot of improvement before the climb back into top 8 in the East.
Watching Grabovski win 9 of those faceoffs in a row was extremely odd last night. I wasn't sure he was even taking them, because I'm fairly sure in the one game against the Rangers he lost about 12 in a row.
I stressed this in HFBoards and I'll say it here. Head shot yes BUT... he didn't leave his feet until AFTER impact was made and it wasn't an elbow, it was a shoulder to the head. The elbow coming up and the feet leaving the ice happened because of follow through. I don't thing Ladd should be suspended, but since Ladd is his name, it may happen.
Good luck tonight Steve, both our teams need this win like you said. I'm a little happy that Kessel is only coming back on Tuesday. Yikes...
Why would toskala get the start if gustavson is playing so well? Besides the one game in Montreal where they lost in overtime every other game Toskala's started, not only have they lost but its been by at least 2 goals none of the games were even close.
dangle, I'm watching this video, and for some reason I feel pumped up and excited about the leafs playing the Canadiens and that is going to be an epic game! but i know, that I am going to turn it on tonight and see more peewee hockey.
Unfortunately, head shots are going to happen...the best way to prevent them is for the players to keep their heads up. Richards hit was a great hit, it took a tremendous amount of hockey sense to make that play...Ladd's was borderline..he didn't leave his feet, but the elbow was right there on the follow-through.
Good point; however, Richards hit Booth at least one full second after Booth got rid of the puck, so the hit was either too much or flat-out interference, if not both.
As for Ladd, he's a big guy and barely even needed to jump to get D'Agostini anyway, but I'm not too happy about the hit either way...
Booth was admiring his pass..which is a dangerous thing to do, especially at the opponents blue line, when Richards nailed him...I didn't think it was too late to make the hit..1 second isn't that big of a deal. I say it was a good play..the injury was obviously regrettable...but, shit happens in this game.
After that kind of shoulder surgery? It may take him the rest of the season to get 100% back to speed, but if he's at 85% with no further chance of injury I think you'd take that in a heartbeat.
I myself think we lose tonights game because honestly the game with the sabres must of been emotionally draining and i think they wont be able to put that out there two nights in a row then again the leafs have proved me wrong numberous times
This is true. But one extra goal per game could be the difference between a win and an OT loss (I realize he probably won't get a goal per game, but I mean the extra hand can't hurt)
Another great vid. I have to say the penalty they took (I think Stempniak, if memory serves) that put the Sabres on a 5-3 was absolutely atrocious. Smoking a guy that's 6'8" in the face with your stick when you're already short-handed. Brutal.
I kept watching Grabovski win face-offs and I was like 'Wow, apparently he watches Steve's vids." Knew you'd like that aspect of the game.

That hit was clean! Are you retarted? He only fractured his skull because he fell awkwardly and his helmet fell off.
Liambas being suspended for life is horseshit.

Kaberle is 5/10 = 50%
That's a pretty damn good percentage for a shootout.

Look up some of his Kaberle's shootout goals he is one of the best maple leafs on the shootout

Ron Wilson addressed that he disliked playing goalies in back-to-back days, especially in Gustavsson's case cuz he just came off the groin injury.
