December 16 2011 I got taken away from my mom for child abuse. I was a 14 year old child who had grown up without a real dad cuz he lived in a diff state and now I had lost my mom. hahha that is so true! you know i never realized that until it was pointed out. It does seem like they're against moms. They might get mentioned, but a good portion of them get killed off. I mean really can't they make more movies where a mom is mentioned and actually survives. but due to them not include more alive mothers in the movies i think this is a perfect fit of a song especially considering some of the clips you used.

All Disney movies, except maybe Hercules, one or both parent's are missing. Not just the moms, dads too. Treasure Planet no dad, Toy Story, Peter Pan 2 (Not to mention all the Lost Boys)... I think Disney is showing "real families" cause lets face it the world today had lots of broken homes.

I know what you mean, but the real reason is a little less deep as this is often found in classic story telling. (Most Disney stories are from tales of old)

The reason there is usually only one parent is for a simplified plot (by focusing on just the one parent/child relationship) and for dramatic effect; propelling the main character into some journey or search so that we can identify with them. Broken family or not, most of us can identify with feeling lost, empty, alone, longing, etc....

@DancinInTheRain5 Yeah, though in Aladdin Jasmine's mother was mentioned; In the third Little Mermaid movie, it showed that Ariel's mom died; Cinderella and Snow White had moms, but they died and their father's married their stepmother's, then their fathers died; Sleeping Beauty was taken away from her parents so she could avoid her curse; But, I agree... Why DIDN'T disney include more mothers?!

@DancinInTheRain5 there have been several theories as to why that is, one of them is that Walt Disney himself lost his mom at a young age and is reflecting that feeling through his movies. Another one is that most of his stories are book adaptations that take place during medieval times where woman would often die giving birth. And last one is that it just adds instant drama and people respond to that.
